Window covers
Turn a thick blanket into functional home theater decoration that blocks out the sun. Use clip-on curtain rings and screw hooks to hang the blanket over the window. Roll it up and tie it in place with silk ribbons, then open the knots and let the blanket fall over the window when you want to watch a movie.
Fabric Art
Create home theater decorations by stretching a strip of beautiful fabric over a rectangle of plywood and stapling it at the back. Next, cut 2x4 lumber into four cubes. Glue the cubes to the back of your art at each corner. Drive screws into the top two cubes and hang a lamp chain from them to suspend your art on the wall.
Remote Chest
Home theater decorations can be functional as well. Keep remotes handy but hidden in cheap but beautiful boxes found in home decorating stores, craft stores or even Dollar stores. Leave each box on the central table or side tables for easy access.
Wall Blanket Mount
Mount a long wooden poll on the wall using ornate wood shelf brackets. Buy cheap blankets in dark colors that match your room. Hang them from the poll as home theater decorations that can be used to warm you up as you cuddle up to watch a movie.
Accent wall
Home theater decorations look best in a dramatic setting. By painting the back wall behind the television or screen in a dark shade, you'll create a backdrop that looks a lot like the crimson drapes of elegant 1920's theaters.
Faux brick wall
Using a rectangle sponge the size of a brick, you can imprint a faux brick pattern on the wall of your home theater. Use three paint colors: red brick, caramel and black. Pour the colors onto your painting palette (which can be a piece of plywood). Smear the sponge into the colors and print rectangles on the wall, leaving a crack between them to imitate grout. When you start the second line, start with half a brick to create a brick-laying pattern.
Plants
Add live plants to your dramatic home theater decorations. The contrast of the green against the dark, formal colors is stunning. It's best to select floor plants that will leave tables clear and will add a lush feeling to corners. And choose a plant that requires little light, as a home theater is often dark.
