Home Toolbox Essentials

Karl Withakay
In our home, things come undone and break from time to time. It never ends. Now you don't need a big red toolbox with 20 drawers - just a little toolbox with the essentials to keep your home in good shape.

Screwdriver Set

You going to need this. Screwdrivers will be your number one used home toolbox essential. You can go ahead and buy three different sized phillip's head screwdrivers and three different sized flat head screwdrivers but I recommend getting just one all in one type of screwdriver that has various sized flat and phillip's bits that plug into the screwdriver. They work just as well and save a lot of space.

Hammer

You're gonna hang a picture. You need a hammer. Just a medium sized claw hammer will do

Set Of Alan Wrenches(also called hex keys)

Now you may think you'll never use these but believe me. If you don't have a set of Alan wrenches, there will come a time when you wish you did and you'll need a set. It's better to be safe than sorry.

Measuring Tape

Now keep in mind that this is your HOME toolbox that you use for simple things in the home. So you don't need a one hundred foot tape measure. A nice small twelve foot tape measure will do fine for your home toolbox.

Pliers

You'll use your pliers more times than you can count. There's always a need to grab stuff that you can't grab with your fingers. A pair of pliers can help loosen that nut or bolt as well.

Nut Driver Set

Sometimes, we need to loosen a nut or bolt and we just can't get in there with our wrench or pliers. Here's where you're going to need a nut driver set. It's similar to your all in one screwdriver. It looks and works like a screwdriver but instead of little phillip's and flat head bits that you insert nto the end of it, you plug in a small socket. Your nut driver set will come with the handle and a set of small sockets.

Utility Knife

Sometimes, you just have to cut it right? Keep a utility knife in your home toolbox. You'll need it once in a while. You can get the retractable blade utility knife or even the cool jack knife type utility knife. Either will work fine.

There you have it. All the things you need for your home toolbox. Go ahead and tuck it under your sink in the kitchen and rest easy. You're prepared for whatever minor repairs you may need inside your home.
