One of the biggest signs of ageing for women is the chest. Skin in this area is delicate and prone to photo-ageing in advancing years. The natural thinning of the fat under the skin along with sun damage can cause wrinkles, lines, age spots and leathery skin.
So do care for your neck and chest area as you do, your face, applying cleansers and moisturisers right down from the face to cover your chest.
Get into the habit of cleansing and moisturising your skin every day to help keep it looking young and healthy. To make your own moisturiser, combine equal amounts of glycerine and rose water. If you have dry skin, increase the amount of glycerine whereas for oily skins increase the amount of rose water.
Aloe vera gel has been a favourite for many years in cleansing lotions and moisterisers. The long, spiked leaves of the aloe vera plant contains a clear gel-like substance that is both soothing and healing to the skin. Lanolin can be used as a barrier to protect the skin from harsh environmental conditions. It comes from the oil glands of sheep and is removed from the hair after they are sheared.
Cold Cream Recipe using Aloe Vera and Lanolin:
Mix together a tablespoon of aloe vera gel with 150 ml olive oil. Melt a tablespoon of white beeswax, 2 tablespoons of anhydrous lanolin and slowly stir in the oil and aloe mix. After removing from heat, add 2 tablespoons of rose lavender water and 2 or 3 drops of your preferred essential oil. Stir until the mixture thickens and cools. Pour into storage jars.
Essential oils that are good for your skin include geranium, rosewood, frankincense, rode jasmine and sandalwood. A very simple anti wrinkle lotion can also be made by mixing a few drops of these oils with a base oil like Aloe Vera Oil or Sesame Oil.
Another way to help prevent wrinkles is to apply coconut oil on your face, neck and chest and gently massage every night before going to bed.
Homemade treatments to help fight ageing skin not only keep expenses down as remedies on the market can be very expensive but you also have the satisfaction of knowing that although some ingredients may come from animals, none of these preparations have been tested on animals!
