If your child's school does not offer any extra-curricular activity, there are some other avenues for you to take. It is understandable that as a parent, you might worry about depriving your child of all that extra knowledge and fun. What can you do?

After school activities do not need to be taught in a school-like environment near professional teachers in a structured and timely manner. There are many things YOU can do to support your child 'academic, and social development.

Obviously, school is first priority for children. They must go to school, and finish their work. They should then do their daily reading or inclusion of work etc. This may take about 30-60 minutes. During his daily work, your child may develop certain academic preferences and interests. In this case, you can try and find a program at a university or a social center that will help and encourage. In the age of The Internet, information is not a rarity. Allow him to use the net find more information about the thing he loves. Encourage the child to do independent research to gain detailed knowledge is not something that the formal program does.

If you are concerned about the lack of social life, you can register at a club - a reading club maybe. Visit public libraries or even the theater, if your child is interested. A book club which involves parent-child is another option. If you round up a number of similar children and their parents, you can start your own program out.

When there is no organized group activity, look to your community. Many children like to become involved in social problems. They get their first the real taste of passion, charity and community help from such experiences.

If physical activity or lack of it is your main concern, you can register your child for some dance classes. If organized sports are impossible to obtain, try to enroll in the gymnastics. Great and lasting friendships can be formed in this way. There are various avenues open for you to explore.
