With the economy going in the direction that it is, there has been a growing need for shelters for women with children. Shelters are not a safe place for women and children so some organizations have started to address that need. Here are some resources for pregnant women and women with children.

1. Oklahoma Housing Finance Agency - They offer links to homeless shelters for expectant mothers, and battered women in Oklahoma.

2. Lifecall - Lifecall offers shelters for pregnant women seeking an alternative to abortion. They are in almost every state.

3.Diocese of Nashville - Their Hope Clinic offers housing for expectant women with no place to turn.

4.Carrie Simon House - Run by the Washington Hebrew Congregation in Washington DC, offers shelter for women with children. They also give homeless expectant women an opportunity to keep their babies and get back on their feet.

5.Genesis House - Based in Florida, they provide safe shelter for homeless pregnant women, transitional shelter for homeless mothers and their children, and long-term housing for student mothers with their children while the mothers complete their education.

6. Hannah's House - It provides transitional living for pregnant and parenting adult women.

7. Pregnancy and Children - They have comprehensive listings of shelters for pregnant women in several states.

8. Alive St. Louis - Lists of shelters for pregnant women and women with children.

9. Madonna House - The Madonna house offers programs to families in need with our primary program being the shelter for women and children.

There are several more but these are a great start.
