Ingredients

Serves 8
8 Cups Apples (sliced)
1 1/2 tsp. Ground cinnamon
1 1/2 Tbs. Lemon juice
3/4 Cup Corn syrup
3/4 Cup White granulated sugar
1 Cup All-Purpose flour
3/4 Cup Stick butter
1/4 tsp. Salt

Directions for Homemade Apple Crisp

1
Preheat oven.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
2
Peel and slice apples.
Peel and slice the apples into a 9x13'' glass pan.
3
Mix cinnamon, corn syrup, and lemon juice into the apples.
If the glass pan is too full to mix thoroughly, you can mix these ingredients in a separate bowl and then put back into the glass pan.
4
Make topping.
First, mix the flour, sugar, and salt in a large mixing bowl. Then, cut the butter into the dry ingredients until it is in pea-sized pieces.
5
Sprinkle the topping over the apples.
Sprinkle the topping over the apples until they are evenly covered.
6
Bake.
Bake in the oven at 350 degrees for about an hour, or until the apples are bubbling and the topping is lightly browned.
7
Let cool.
Remove and let cool for at least 15-20 minutes until serving. This dish can be eaten warm or cold, and the tradition in my family is to pour some milk over the top of it before eating!
Tip
Ingredients 5-8 are for the topping. An alternative topping includes: 2/3 C. dry oatmeal, 2/3 C. brown sugar, 1/2 C. flour, 6 Tbs. butter, pinch of salt.
