Homemade Austin Powers Halloween Costumes

The Austin Powers movies offer lots of inspiration for creative homemade Halloween costumes for men, women and children. Here are a few ideas for different costumes from the Austin Powers series.

Homemade Austin Powers Halloween Costume

To create a homemade Austin Powers Halloween costume, you'll need a royal blue velour or velvet pair of pants and single-breasted jacket with a white button-down shirt with a stand-up collar. If you prefer, you could also get your costume pants and jacket in red. Tie a lacy jabot around your neck and attach lace cuffs to the shirt. Also find some black shoes or ankle-length boots, some geeky black horn rimmed glasses and a long chain with a male symbol pendant. Style your hair in a long 70s style or wear a 70s wig. Add a set of Austin Powers teeth to make your costume complete.

Homemade Dr. Evil Halloween Costume

To make a Dr. Evil Halloween costume from "Austin Powers", find a light gray pair of pants, jacket with a band collar and a black or white pair of loafers. Also find a bald cap, some liquid latex and pale makeup. If you're allergic to latex, use nose wax and unflavored gelatin instead. Using the liquid latex or nose wax, create a vertical scar across your right cheek near the eye. Put on the bald cap and dab some liquid latex over the edge. When the liquid latex has dried, put the makeup on top of the latex. Find a silver-toned ring to place on your right pinky finger.

If you have kids, dress them up in a Mini Me child costume. Get a gray jacket with a band collar, a pair of gray pants in a smaller size to fit your child and white or black shoes. Also get a bald cap and some liquid latex or nose wax and gelatin. Create the Dr. Evil scar on the right side of your child's face. Cover it with pale hypoallergenic foundation and powder. Place a small silver-toned ring on the child's right pinky finger. If you're going out on Halloween as Dr. Evil, pair up with your kids to make a cool group costume.

Homemade Foxxy Cleopatra Halloween Costume

There are several different ways to make a Foxxy Cleopatra Halloween costume from the Austin Powers movie "Goldmember." One way is to find a dark green bikini top, a yellow vinyl jacket and miniskirt. Also get some tall dark green boots. Cut a slit in the miniskirt over the center of the left leg and hem both sides. Cut two large holes on each side of the slit, then place a large metal eyelet over each hole. Get a strip of dark green fabric to match your bikini top and boots, and lace it through the eyelets in the miniskirt. Wear a green and yellow scarf around your neck like a choker necklace. Find an oversized dark green suede fabric cap with yellow piping.

Another idea is to wear a metallic gold bikini top and matching split panel skirt. Wear a gold beaded choker necklace with a slender extension that trails down your front. Wear metallic gold eyeshadow, bronze blush and lipstick, liquid eyeliner, false eyelashes with lots of mascara. Finish the gold Foxxy Cleopatra costume with gold high-heeled pumps.

Another Foxxy Cleopatra costume can be made with a shiny black or navy blue long-sleeved halter top and a matching pair of pants. If you can't find a halter top in the right color and texture, use a regular button-down shirt and cut it down and hem it just below the chest. Use chipboard or card stock to make cuffs for the sleeves and cover them in a matching fabric or the fabric you cut from the shirt. Sew or hot glue them to the sleeves. Use a stud setter to set gold-toned studs on the cuffs and collar of the shirt. Wear a large hoop necklace with a stylized cat pendant.

Wear an enormous gold-toned hoop earring in your left ear and get a huge blond Afro wig to make your Foxxy Cleopatra costume complete.

Homemade Felicity Shagwell Halloween Costume

To make a Felicity Shagwell Halloween costume from "Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me," find a blue long-sleeved zip-up jacket and shorts, preferably in velour or velvet. Roll up the sleeves above your elbow. Find some black high heeled boots that come up above the knee. Apply large butterfly appliques to the outsides of the boots. Attach some ornate purple trim to the zipper and the lower edge of the jacket. Attach a large metal ring to the bottom of the jacket at the center. Wear a choker necklace with a female symbol pendant. If your hair is long and blond, grasp the front section and braid it. Allow the braid to fall to the right side of your head. Curl and rat your hair to give it more volume and use a volumizing insert in the back. If your hair isn't the right color or length, use a very full long blond wig to create the Felicity Shagwell hairstyle.
