Homemade Baby Shower Favors

Planning a baby shower can be an extraordinary undertaking. Just putting together a guest list requires the skill and secrecy of a private detective. Add to that the invitation choosing and sending, menu planning, and keeping track of all the RSVPing, the idea of homemade baby shower favors might seem a lofty goal. The reality is, with some time and a little help from your friends you can make adorable seed packet favors with very little effort or expense.

Shower favors of any kind are meant to be a thank you to guests, and nothing says thank you more than something homemade. The personal touch added by homemade favors lets friends and family know their time and presence was appreciated and honored with a small yet thoughtful sentiment. Using seed packets averts any dietary disasters while increasing your eco-friendly karma score, and diapering them in flannel will have them fitting in to any baby shower décor.

You'll need one seed packet for each guest; Baby's Breath would be my choice but any flower or herb easily grown in your region will do. When bought online in bulk seed packets can be purchased for as low as .35 cents.

For each seed packet you will need an 8" x 8" square of flannel or flannelette, and one mini diaper pin. Both fabrics come in a dizzying array of prints so finding one to match your theme will not be difficult, if you'll be doing a lot of favors flannelette is probably the most cost effective way to go in a solid blue or pink. Mini diaper pins can be bought at most craft stores by the dozen for under $3.00.
