Homemade Barbecue Sauce

A Simple, Easy to Make, Barbecue Sauce

Darren Heath
This is a barbecue sauce recipe calling for sorghum syrup. Sorghum used to be very popular in the south. It is similar to molasses but is not quite as thick and has a milder flavor. It is rather sweet and has a consistency similar to honey.

Ingredients:

1 cup sorghum syrup (if not available in your area you can find it online through amazon.com).

1 cup ketchup

1tbsp. garlic powder

1tbsp. onion powder

1 tsp. chili powder

1tbsp. Worcestershire or chipotle pepper sauce

Salt and pepper to taste

Execution:

Combine all ingredients in a sauce pan and heat. The chipotle sauce works great instead of Worcestershire sauce because it still gives that smoky flavor and it adds just a touch of heat.
