First of all, you need to know the correct way to use a steam. You want to start with a blank canvas, clean your face with a scrub or cleanser prior to steaming. Pick your poison, choose the right steam for you and get those ingredients together. You want a warm steam, but not a hot steam that will scald your face. Pull your hair back into a ponytail, it it's long, or pin it back if you have bangs. You will put your steamy water and ingredients mixed together in a large bowl on a sturdy surface, lean your head over it and drape a towel over your head. The towel holds the steam in so that it is directed at your face. Ten to fifteen minutes is a good amount of time for soaking up the steam, then rinse your face with some cool water and pat dry.

Chamomile can help you relax, and help your sleep at night. It can also make your skin feel wonderfully moisturized and help to relax those lines. This recipe simply needs four cups of warm water with four bags of chamomile tea soaking in it.
Cleansing Lemon Steam
Lemon is a great cleansing agent. Not only will it cleans your face, skin and pores, but it will also cleans your nose and throat. This is the perfect steam to try out for anyone who has never steam treated their faces before. Boil a fresh sliced lemon in five cups of water, let it cool to a warm, yet steamy (not scalding) temp and follow the steaming instructions.
