Kitchen and Cooking Themed Handmade Tree Ornaments
These ideas for handmade ornaments with a cooking theme are also great gift ideas for your favorite cook, top chef, best baker or savvy sandwich maker. The great even news is that these homemade ornaments are super easy and very inexpensive too.
This kitchen themed Christmas tree idea would even be a fun idea for a small tree in your kitchen for your Christmas party. It could be a centerpiece for your table or a unique centerpiece for your Christmas party or Christmas dinner buffet or food table.
Lastly creating a small cooking themed Christmas tree this would be a fun way to present some kitchen gadget gifts to newly weds or new homeowners.
Creating the Kitchen Themed Christmas Tree Ornaments:
The basic idea behind making cooking related ornaments is to find lightweight, about hand size or smaller kitchen utensils, tools and gadgets and add a ribbon hanger. That's it. These unique handmade ornaments are really that simple.
Vintage kitchen tools like metal measuring cups are the coolest. Of course you could go through your own kitchen drawers for unused kitchen gadgets but the best bet is to search for cooking accessories at Good Will, other resale stores or antique shops.
Here are some ideas for kitchen gadgets to look for to create ornaments for a cooking themed Christmas tree:
Measuring cups
Measuring spoons
Cookie cutters
Small whisk
Bottle openers
Small graters
Lightweight salt and pepper shakers
You can also create green tree ornaments by reusing:
Bottles, like Vanilla Flavoring bottles (We filled the Vanilla bottles with buttons for color.)
Spice bottles or canisters
Boxes tea bags come in
Empty soup cans
Empty soda cans
I recently saw Coke and Diet Coke ornaments and thought of my friend the Diet Coke fanatic. The ornament was really cute but not $19.00 cute. I can take an empty Diet Coke can, tie a ribbon through the tab and create my own handmade ornament for the cost of a Diet Coke. Likewise Campbell's soup cans would be cute for Campbell's soup lovers or those wonderful cooks who can make a casserole from anything if they have a can of cream of something Campbell's soup.
Tip:
If you are creating the themed tree you can also tie is cinnamon stickers or hearty herbs like sprigs or rosemary.
Fancier embellishments:
Your handmade ornaments are already adorable but if you've got a hot glue gun and you want to make your Christmas tree ornaments a bit fancier, you can add on Christmas colored gemstones for even more dazzle.
