Homemade Christmas wrapping paper will save you money and is eco-friendly. There is no need for you to buy expensive wrapping paper from the stores. These ideas for Christmas wrapping paper use recycled items and therefore are the green way to go.

Brown paper bag

Brown paper bags make great homemade Christmas wrapping paper! Once you've wrapped the gift, you can decorate the bag with ink stamps or stickers. Use red and green ink to add a Christmas look. When you're done, a candy cane on top of the present wrapped with your homemade wrapping paper would be a great finishing touch!

Fabric

If you have any extra or leftover fabric around your home, this is a great way to wrap gifts. Use tape or glue to hold the fabric onto the gift. Or you can form a little pouch with the fabric. For instance, if the gift you are wrapping is a gift card, just wrap the fabric around the card to form a pouch. You can tie the pouch with anything you have around the house; a piece of ribbon, yarn, string, etc.

Sheets

Perhaps you have some old flannel Christmas sheets that no one uses any more. You can use these sheets (flannel or cloth) as homemade Christmas wrapping paper. If the sheets happen to be some shade of red or green, even better. Just cut the desired amount of sheet that you need and wrap your item. You can finish the present off by wrapping it in twine rather than ribbon as a more green way to go!

Newspaper

Newspaper is another creative way to wrap Christmas gifts. You can easily tape it onto your gift. Decorate it with a bright bow of green or red or silver or gold.

Curtains/Drapes

Maybe you have some old curtains or drapes stored in a closet that you know you'll never use again. These can be used to wrap gifts. And if the drapes are fancy, the wrapped gift will look fancy as well! Imagine a gift wrapped in velour!

Making homemade Christmas wrapping paper can be fun! And you may have all the materials you need around your house in which case it will cost you nothing!
