My favorite homemade face and body mask to make and use is my homemade oat and avocado mask. It is soothing, nourishing and rejuvenating and helps treat dry skin, acne, itching, sunburns and aging skin. It even helps exfoliate the skin and body while pulling toxins and impurities from it naturally.
The organic ingredients needed to make the homemade oat and avocado mask are 4 cups of finely ground oats, 2 pureed avocados, ½ cup of apple cider vinegar, 2 cups of green clay powder, ¼ cups of witch hazel, ½ cup of aloe juice and ¼ cup of vitamin E oil. All these ingredients can be found in a drugstore, grocery store and health food store. However, please make sure all the ingredients are in their purest form because this is when they have the most nourishing potent nutrients in them.
Now the reason I use finely ground oats in this mask is that it has antioxidants, vitamins, minerals and anti-inflammatory, anti histamine and anti-itch properties in it, which help treat, nourish and soothe all types of skin and conditions. I like to use avocados in the mask because it too contains potent nutrients in it that help nourish and rejuvenate the skin naturally while hydrating it. Apple cider vinegar is used to help pull toxins from the skin and body while drawing out impurities. The green clay in the mask is packed full of minerals that help make the skin glow, but green clay also helps firm, tone and exfoliate the skin and body naturally. Witch hazel is useful for gentle cleansing of the skin and body while the aloe juice in the mask helps soothe and treat acne and other blemishes such as sores. Last, but not least is the vitamin E. It is one of the most important ingredients in this face and body mask because it is essential for repairing skin damage do to sunburn, free radical cells and other harsh environmental factors such as dry air and pollution.
The easiest way I fine to make the homemade oat and avocado mask is by pouring all the ingredients into a puree machine, but blenders and smoothie machines can be used also. Then I simply puree the ingredients together until I get a thick rich deep green slightly creamy and gritty face and body mask that should be used right away. Once the mask is made, you can simply pour it into a plastic bowl or container and take it right into the bathroom to use. However, if you find the mask too runny just add more clay powder until it is thick enough, and if you find the mask too thick add some more aloe juice until you achieve the desired thickness you want.
Now the first things you should do before using the homemade oat and avocado mask are wash and exfoliate your skin and body from head to toe as best as possible. When the skin is clean and well exfoliated, the mask is able to stick better onto to the skin and body. Once the skin and body is well cleaned and exfoliated, you can take the mask and lather it onto your face and body in nice thick even layers. You will want to do this in the bathtub because it does make a big mess, however the results are amazing and well worth the mess. Once the mask is on stay in the bathroom and leave it on for 30 minutes to an hour if you have time. I always say the longer the better. Read a magazine or listen to relaxing music well the mask is on to help pass the time easily. Then once the time is up simply take a warm shower and wash it off and pat the skin dry. After your skin and body will look glowing, firmed and well toned and feel silky soft, smooth and supple. You will even notice if you have acne or sores the redness is going away and they are beginning to heal up nicely. You can use this face and body mask up to 4 times a month to keep the skin and body looking and feeling its best naturally.
