Children love to get involved in dipping eggs and decorating. They get to have a lot of the fun being creative and that in itself makes this a special holiday. Adults can get into the spirit and enjoy making things at home just as easily. Here are a few simple projects that children and adults can enjoy this Easter.
Easter Egg Bird Feeder :
To get started making this fun and unusual Easter present you will need just a few simple items.
1. A bag of birdseed
2. A jar of peanut butter
3. Popsicle sticks
4. A Hammer and small nails.
5. Colorful thin ribbon
6. Colorful tissue paper
7. Scissors
Using your hammer and nails, hammer a hole in the center of each end of all of your Popsicle sticks. You will then want to cut ten to twelve inch lengths of ribbon for each bird feeder you are going to make. Thread a ribbon through the bottom and top ends of each Popsicle stick. Center the ribbon and tie a knot. Mix birdseed with peanut butter till it is very thick. Use your hands to mold the mixture around the bottom half of your Popsicle sticks in an Easter egg shape.
Coat each egg shape with thick birdseed by using your hands and pressing it firmly. You will then want to tie the bottom ribbon into a simple bow. Tie the top ribbon into a loop that can be used to hang the feeder from any tree branch or hanger. Wrap each feeder with colorful tissue paper and twist it around the top of the Popsicle stick, leaving the ribbon showing out of the top. This homemade Easter gift is sure to brighten any garden.
Grassy Easter Egg Heads :
You will only need five items to create this super fun Easter present.
1. Empty egg shells
2. Dirt
3. Grass seed
4. Magic markers
5. Construction paper
Start by cracking and cleaning your egg shells. Be sure to let them dry completely. Use your magic markers to create faces on each of the cracked eggs. Remember that the open end will be the top of the head and the very bottom of the egg will be covered in paper. Center your face designs accordingly.
Cut half inch strips of construction paper approximately three inches long by a half inch wide. Make a quarter inch cut in the top half of one end and the bottom half on the other end of each strip. Connect them in a circle shape by linking the two cuts.
Add a cracked egg to each circle and fill it three quarters full with dirt. Top the dirt with a hearty sprinkling of grass seed. Water the heads very sparingly until grass begins to sprout. This homemade Easter present will make everybody smile.
Candle Filled Egg Shells :
For this Easter present idea you will only need five items.
1. Empty egg shells
2. Empty egg carton
3. Candle wax
4. Candle wicks
5. A funnel or spouted cup
Clean and dry your cracked egg shells. Be sure they are perfectly dry before going on with the project. Place each egg shell into your empty egg carton with the open ends up. Center and secure your candle wicks in each one of the shells.
Melt your candle wax and be sure not to let it burn. Use your funnel or spouted cup to carefully pour your wax into the egg shells. Alternate colors to give an added touch of Easter to the candles. Let them cool completely before attempting to move them. These egg candles make a perfect homemade Easter present.
You can find candle wicks for this project by clicking here. It is also very easy to substitute small tea candles and just place them into the egg shells. They may require some trimming to fit into the shell but will still make an adorable Easter gift. You can also melt and pour wax over the edges of the egg shell to give this Easter craft project a more homemade look.
There are several ways you could add personal touches to each of these homemade Easter presents. You could add colorful beads or ribbons to any of them. Adding color to the eggshells or using markers to add color would make them even more unique. Have fun with each of these projects and find ways to make them with your own touch.
All of these Easter gift ideas are easy to make and require only very affordable items. I hope you enjoy making these Easter presents with your friends and families. To find more of my homemade gift ideas click here.
