Homemade Egyptian Halloween Costume and Accessories: Cleopatra, the Egyptian Queen
To get started making a Cleopatra costume, find a sleeveless, full-length white satin dress. Wear a gold belt or tie a gold piece of fabric around your hips. Take a piece of cardboard from a cereal box or a box of frozen pizza. Cut it into a broad Egyptian queen collar that goes all around your neck. Spray paint the unfinished side gold, then decorate it with gold beads, fake jewels and glitter. Make arm cuff accessories out of cardboard, spray paint them gold and decorate them with gold metallic glitter glue or fabric paint. You could also make a Cleopatra snake bracelet for your upper arm out of wire. Twist the wire so that it fits your upper arm, then attach a gold colored snake accessory to the top segment. Cut a 2 inch wide strip out of cardboard and wrap it around your head to make sure it fits. Hot glue it together, cut a snake or triangle shaped accessory out of cardboard and attach it to the center of the strip. Spray paint the entire Egyptian queen headpiece gold. If you like, get a black wig and braid it into slender strands. Wear sandals and paint bold Egyptian eyeliner around your eyes.
Homemade Egyptian Halloween Costume and Accessories: Egyptian Princess
A homemade Egyptian princess costume is much like a Cleopatra or Egyptian queen costume, but less elaborate. Begin with a long, sleeveless white dress. Add a gold belt. Cut some 1 inch strips from cardboard, then paint them gold and make them into simple arm bracelet accessories. Make a 1 inch wide headband from cardboard, secure it with hot glue and spray paint it gold. Attach a large fake gem to the center of the headpiece accessory with hot glue. You can also make a cardboard collar accessory for the Egyptian princess costume if you like. Use the same instructions for the Egyptian queen costume, but attach evenly-spaced fake jewels to the collar without the gold beads and glitter. Wear sandals and black eyeliner.
Homemade Egyptian Halloween Costume and Accessories: Egyptian Goddess
Find a long dress in a very shiny fabric. A gold or silver lame dress would do well for an Egyptian goddess costume, as would a sequined or satin dress in a color like blue or white. Fashion a large collar costume accessory from cardboard. Paint the cardboard alternately in broad stripes of metallic gold and a darker color such as black or navy blue. Attach a single large fake gem to the center of the collar once the paint has dried. Make a wide belt to go around your hips, and paint it exactly like the collar. Make another large tie-shaped costume piece out of fabric or cardboard, then paint it metallic gold down the center, and paint the same broad gold and dark stripes around the outer edge. Attach jewels down the center stripe. Make cardboard arm cuffs and upper arm bracelets and spray paint them gold. Adapt a gold-toned necklace with a large pendant to wear in your hair. Attach it to the top of your head so that the pendant rests on your forehead. Make a large cape accessory from sheer gold cloth and attach it to the underside of the back of the collar. Push some paper inside a pair of sandals and spray paint them gold. Wear gold rings with large gemstones and black eyeliner to make your Egyptian goddess costume complete.
Homemade Egyptian Halloween Costume and Accessories: Egyptian Pharaoh
Get a long, black short-sleeved gown. Make a broad Egyptian Pharaoh collar from cardboard. Paint the collar accessory with gold paint, then when that paint has dried, paint some blue concentric stripes around the center and the inner edge of the collar. You could also attach gold trim to the collar if you prefer. Make a waist band accessory out of cardboard and paint and trim it in the same manner as the collar. Also make some long arm cuffs from cardboard and spray paint them gold as well. Find a long, slender wooden pole and spray paint it gold. Then find or make a snake-shaped piece to go on the end of the pole. If it isn't gold-toned, spray paint it as well. Make a wide head band out of cardboard and paint it gold. Then find a large, black piece of cloth and sew or hot glue some gold metallic strips to it. Attach the cloth to the head band accessory so that it drapes over your neck when you put the head band on. Apply black eyeliner around your eyes and wear sandals.
