Nowadays, it is all about being fit and consuming products that boost energy. Why not try making your own energy boosting drinks? The key to homemade energy drinks is to drink them as soon as you make them to optimize on the fresh vitamins and natural nutrition. I would not recommend making them in advance. Here are some of my favorites

Figalicious Banana Smoothie

Take on ripe banana, 4 dry figs, 1 1/2 tablespoon of local honey and one cup of milk and ½ cup of ice. Blend all of these items in the blender until the mixture is nice and smooth . You will really enjoy this exotic smoothie. What I like about this is that bananas kick start your nervous system and the figs contain natural sugars that are energy boosting in nature. Honey is awesome for your immune system and supplements your digestive track.

Orange Lemon Work Out Drink

This is a great concoction to drink while you work out. I take water, a lemon flavored tea bag (boiled in 16 ounces of water), add in 3 tablespoons of sugar, ¼ teaspoon salt and 5 tablespoons of orange juice. This tastes best chilled and I feel it gives me that extra kick when I am working out or that pick me up during the day when I am dragging.

Green Juice

I take any green vegetable I have and toss it into a juicer. Usually I use cucumber, cilantro or parsley, spinach, and anything else I have on hand. Once juiced, I add a pinch of salt and drink first thing in the morning. This really gets the day started well.

Monkey Banana Drink

I take 1 cup milk, ½ a banana, 2 ½ tablespoons sugar, 2 ½ tablespoons cocoa and put all of this in a blender and let her roll until it is nice and smooth. This is a quick and yummy drink to boost your energy.

Strawberry Smoothie

Take ½ cup froze strawberries, 1 tablespoon honey, ½ to 1/3 cup dry milk powder and ¼ cup of milk. Blend all of these ingredients up until frothy and enjoy!

Try any of these the next time you need to kick start your day!
