Fabric Freshener Recipe
Add one part liquid laundry fabric softener and two parts tap water to an eight to ten ounce spray bottle and shake. That's it! Your homemade fabric freshener is done and ready to use!
You can now freshen your living room by spraying it on your fabric upholstered furniture, carpets and curtains. Make your kitchen smell nice and fresh after cooking with onions or garlic by spraying on your curtains, tablecloth or fan blades!
Spray in your bedroom on your bed, blankets, pillows, curtains and carpet. To make your bathroom smell really clean, spray your bath mat, fabric shower curtain. If it is a really stinky smell you need to remove quickly, spray a washcloth or hand towel until very damp and hang it inside the shower, then close the bathroom door. Within minutes your bathroom will smell as if you just cleaned it! You can also do this in any room of the house, just figure out a place to hide the wash cloth where your guests will not see it!
One really great advantage of using liquid laundry fabric softener, is all the different scents! Downy has a huge line of new scents like Vanilla & Lavender, Water Lily & Jasmine, Rose & Violet and Magnolia & Orange Blossom.
Since you already buy the fabric softener for your laundry and you are only using about two ounces of it each time you mix up a spray, water and a cheap spray bottle, I am estimating that it will cost you less than a dollar to make your freshener. That's definitely a lot cheaper than a five dollar bottle of febreze! But beyond the cost, the scent lingers much longer, so you do not need to use as much each time, therefore, your homemade spray bottle will last you weeks, if not months!
There you have it! The simplest way to make you home smell fresh and clean for just pennies, you simply can not beat that!
