Father's Day associated with bad gifts. Fortunately, toddlers are too young to pick out horrible ties. Here's a couple of gifts your toddler can make for their daddy guaranteed to be a favorite Father's Day gift for years to come.
Treasure Box
This is a perfect gift to hold change, erasers, and other nic nacs. When your toddler customizes it with pictures of things that their father likes. (For my husband, it would be pictures of my husband playing paintball or video game pictures paintball markers, for a stamp collector different stamps )
MATERIALS
Peanut canister (round cardboard kind with foil lining)
Magazines, catalogs, stamps, or photos
glue
white glaze
picture of your toddler
Adult- Clean the peanut can and place lid aside.
Toddler- decide which pictures to use in your project.
Adult- Cut out pictures, your toddler is going to use.
Toddler- Decorate canister by gluing pictures.
Adult- Cut recent picture to fit the lid.
Toddler- Glue picture on top. After everything dries, paint whole canister with white glaze.
Special Snack for Dad
If the way to a man's heart is through his stomach, this will truly warm Dad's heart.
MATERIALS
Dad's favorite snack foods such as cheese nips, cereal, nuts, m&m's, raisins, marshmallows, etc.
Large bowls
Large spoons
Cups for Scoping.
Container to place snack for dad ( can also use a Treasure Box)
Toddler: Decorate container for Dad's snack.
Adult: Pour snack food into bowls and place cups for scooping in the bowls.
Toddler: Wash hands, start scoping dad's favorite snacks into a large bowl, stir food together.
Adult: Transfer Dad's Snack into decorated container.
Hand Print
For young toddlers this is the easiest gift to make all it requires is them to put their hand in paint.
MATERIALS
Card Stock
Washable paint or large ink pad.
Picture Frame
Adult- Print or write the following poem on card stock
Daddy I Love You
Daddy, I love you
For all that you do.
I'll kiss you and hug you
'Cause you love me, too.
You feed me and need me
To teach you to play,
So smile 'cause I love you
On this Father's Day.
Cut to fit frame.
Toddler- Put hand in paint or on ink pad. Then place hand on card stock.
Adult- Date and Frame.
Personalized Books
This book can be personalized for Father's Day and is sure to be treasured
MATERIALS
Cereal box
8 1/2- x 11-inch white paper
Hole punch
Yard
Adult- Cut 9 1/2- x 6-inch rectangle out of the cereal box.
Adult and Toddler- Place rectangle upside down and fold in half. Decide how many pages you want, pile the white paper, fold sheets into fouths and put the paper inside the rectangle.
Adult- Punch three holes through the paper and cereal boxes.
Toddler- Thread yard through the holes to hold book together.
Adult and Toddler- Decide what you want the book to be about. Older toddler may be able to choose topics like "Me and You" and compare characteristics like their eye color and hair color.. If they are old enough to think of what to write, the parent should write what the toddler dictates. Younger toddlers may need help with brainstorming, Mom may want to write some of their favorite things to do with Daddy.
Toddler- Let the toddler color pages to help illustrate the book.
