Instructions for Flip Flop Invitations: Trim the foam board into left and right foot shapes using a knife or sharp cutting tool. These shapes should resemble a Flip Flops or shoes more than actual feet. Trim the patterned fabric or scrapbooking paper into shapes similar to each piece of foam board. Glue these patterned fabric shapes on top of the foam board. Once the glue dries, make a hole in the upper center section of each foam board shape.
Take one pair of shoe strings and push them through that hole to appear on the opposite side of the patterns on each foam board shape. Use the same directions for yarn or any other material that may be used as a substitute. That opposite side will become the bottom of all Flip Flop party invitations being sent to guests. There does not have to be more than one inch of the shoe strings or yarn on the bottom of these Flip Flop party invitations. Glue them down to the foam board so that each half-inch piece is lying flat on the bottom.
Sit the patterned foot shapes right-side up and make two holes a few inches below the middle of these Flip Flop party invitations. Separate the shoe strings or yarn and place one into each hole. Tie a knot on the opposite ends once each thread gets to the opposite side of the Flip Flop party invitations. Cut the white card stock or construction paper into medium sized rectangles using a pair of scissors. These rectangle shapes will become shoe tags for the homemade Flip Flop party invitations.
Write or print all party information on the shoe tag for these Flip Flop invitations. If there is not enough room on one shoe tag, create another Flip Flop for the right or left shoe, respectively. Place the Flip Flop party invitations in a small shoe box and deliver them to invited guests. Another alternative to making one pair of Flip Flops for each guest is to create a folding shoe tag. Glue the bottom side of folding tags to the shoe and close the cover using tape. Write a shoe size on the cover along with instructions to open it up by removing the tape. List all of the party information on the inside, as a surprise invitation for guests.
