Homemade Gifts Kids Can Make for Their Dad

Jane Vee
Fathers may not be as sentimental as moms. This is still not 100% proven when it comes to their children. Watch a father as he does anything and everything to please his child and make that child happy. A child giving a father a homemade gift can get that same look that's only begot from unconditional love. What can a child give to their dad that is homemade for Father's Day? A few suggestions include fishing lures, targets, frames for photos, or key chains.

Fishing lures - In order to make Dad a fishing lure, you need to know a little about fishing lures. I always say the bigger the lure the bigger the fish. Although this is not really a tried and true method, if the fishing lure is big and strong it will hold up in the salt waters and will attract salt water fish. If a lure is small it is better for fresh water fishing. The reasoning is bigger fish, which are found in salt water, eat more. Smaller fish are found in fresh water and are less likely to break a smaller lure.

In order to make a fishing lure, you need a hook and material for the lure. The lure can be made of feathers or even "rubber" worms or snakes. Children can choose the type of lure they want to give to dad.

Targets for target practice - Some dads target practice. The child can make dad a target to shoot at. He or she can put clay pigeons on cardboard for dad to shoot at. If there are no clay pigeons to be found, the child can improvise with soda cans (empty or full), juice pouches, or any other type of target they would like to hang.

Simple targets of paper plates with centers drawn on them for the bulls-eye can also be used. Children can easily make paper plate targets at almost any age. Depending on what type of shooting dad does can depend on what type of target the child draws.

Frames for Photos - Depending on the age of the child, he or she can use anything from popsicle sticks to wood or metal. Once you have the frame then you can decorate it by drawing or even stickers. Frames for photos is a nice present for dad on Father's Day, but he will like it even more if there is a photo of his special child in it.

Key Chains - For kids that are experimenting with wood working they may like to make a key chain for dad for Father's Day. Depending on the age of the child, the child could laminate his or her picture, punch a whole in the laminated picture and attach it to a key ring.

Mini Desk Golf Hole - This can be made with anything from cardboard to wood. Any child can use a shoe box with a lid and turn it into a fun storage solution. The child can either use fake grass or green construction paper for the turf. Making a flat golf course is the easiest and will just require a hole in the lid for the ball to fall in. The child can use a marble as the golf ball. A net can be used in the hole to catch the ball. Use a popsicle stick or two toothpicks taped together to make a flag for the hole. Cover the rest of your box in your favorite color construction paper. Dad has a fun storage solution for a desk or anywhere.

If you make a homemade present for dad for Father's Day, he will enjoy it as much if not more than the fun you had making it. Happy Father's Day!
