Homemade Gifts for Mother's Day

Making Personalized Gifts Make Them More Special

Rianne Hill Soriano
A family can celebrate Mother's Day in creative ways where the entire household can bond in art activities with outputs celebrating motherhood. They can even produce artistic gifts for mom's special day after such activities. They can also put more value to her own hobbies and arts and craft favorites by working on such creative projects together as a family.

Scrapbook-Making Project

The family can participate in a scrapbook-making project with aptly fitting theme for Mother's Day or any other interesting theme mom finds touching and memorable. As a memory keepsake book, a scrapbook can remind the her and the whole family about special events and memories that make their lives special. There are many scrapbook materials available in book, school and office stores, super centers and online shops. There are also a number of websites offering free designs to help out starters and those needing additional inspirations for their scrapbooks.

Apart from photos, putting authentic memorabilias like show tickets, restaurant receipts, food recipes or even hospital bracelets during the birth of mom's kids are ideally placed to the scrapbook to make it more special and touching.

Beaded Craft Project

Beaded craft works require easy-to-find raw materials in many arts and craft stores or even scrap materials already found inside the home. Family members can make craft jewelry items out of mom's favorite colors, beads, crystals and just about any other materials she likes.

Aside from making bracelets, necklaces, anklets and earrings for her, other beaded craft works the family can do include putting beaded designs to mom's favorite bag or even make a DIY purse or tote using her favorite beads and colors to accentuate such gift items. Decorative materials for the home can also include such beaded designs and these can even be personalized with the family's message for her during Mother's Day.

Brooch-making Project

Making a brooch is a fun and easy homemade project for both kids and adults. By mixing together a cup of warm water, a cup of flour, two teaspoons of cream of tartar, 1 teaspoon of oil, and food coloring stirred over medium heat, the family can create brooch sets for mom for Mother's Day.

Once the heated mixture looks smooth already, it should be placed on an airtight container until reasonably cooled. After shaping the mixture in various shapes, the family can also etch some personalized names and messages over each one, then press a pin at the back of each shape to create a Mother's Day brooch. Let it dry, then paint over any design, then it's time to wrap them as a set of gift items for mom.
