Homemade Halloween Costume on a Budget - Sponge Bob Squarepants

With costumes of Sponge Bob easily costing over $25, a homemade costume is well worth the effort. Tweens can easily make their own Sponge Bob Squarepants Halloween Costume for a fraction of the cost of a new costume. Chances are good it will only be worn one or two times before being thrown out or given away. You may want to save your money and have some fun with a craft.

The box should cover the torso area and be as long as shorts. Sponge Bob's face and torso will be the box. You will be painting, coloring, or gluing Sponge Bob's clothes onto the box.

After you find a box, you need to get the rest of the costume together. You can wear some type of white pants or tights under the box to stay warm. You may also want to wear a long sleeve white shirt just to keep warm and still match the costume. For shoes you can wear anything. If you have black or brown shoes, they would be preferable.

Now that all of the clothing necessities are gathered: box, shirt, pants or tights, and shoes, work on creating Sponge Bob. Cut a hole in the middle of the box so the wearer can see and breath. If you do not want to draw Sponge Bob's face on the box, you may want to let the person use their face as Sponge Bob's. Use yellow face paint to "become" Sponge Bob.
