Homemade Halloween Costume Ideas Using a Purple Dress

It's easy to get carried away when designing a homemade Halloween costume. Some folks go all out, spending hundreds of dollars perfecting their homemade costume. Unless you've got a specialty costume in mind, there is little reason to spend more than about $30. After all, there are thousands of great costume ideas to choose from. If you've got a purple dress you'd like to show off this Halloween, gain inspiration from the following homemade costume ideas.

Homemade Halloween Costume Ideas Using a Purple Dress

A Female Joker

The Joker is infamous for his green and purple getup. This Halloween, put a feminine spin on one of the most popular villains in comic book history. Don a pair of green tights and long green gloves and invest in a makeup kit to achieve this look. Paint your face white and smear on some vivid red lipstick. Spice it up by tossing in a tie.

Harley Quinn

Harley Quinn was the Joker's right-hand woman and love interest. This Halloween, achieve this homemade costume idea by painting your face in white and donning dark purple or black lipstick. You can also paint a black mask around the eyes (think Robin from Batman). Throw on a jester hat or, if you are feeling particularly bold, dye half of your hair red and the other half black. Then put your hair into two pony tails.

Jane Jetson

The Jetsons were a popular cartoon show in the 80s. This Halloween, take your friends back by incorporating your purple dress into a homemade Mrs. Jetson costume. Tack on a white collar, toss on a pair of purple tights and purple heels and dye your hair red to achieve the look.

Daphne

Daphne was another infamous red head who liked purple. A green scarf, pink tights, white shoes and a red wig (or hair dye) complete the look.

She Hulk

She Hulk, Hulk's cousin, is a lawyer by day, awesome vixen by night. While she typically wears a one-piece, purple is undoubtedly her color. Paint your body green, create long, black, bedroom hair and watch guys everywhere fawn over your awesome, homemade costume.

Vidia

Vidia, the snootiest of the Tinkerbell fairies, is a big fan of purple. If you are too, she's the girl for you. This Halloween, achieve the look with a pair of purple tights, purple shoes, a purple dress, wings and a long, black ponytail.

Each homemade costume should be modified depending on what you have on hand. Switch tights for boots or knee high socks, or switch flats for heels, if you'll be spending the night on your feet. Temporary hair dye is probably cheaper than a wig, though more laborious.

LOL on purple I was thinking of being a grape...however, due to my age and the fact I'm more stickish than roundish...I think a raisin might be more appropriate.
