One Halloween costume that you can make for your little princess is an angel costume. You can do this by taking a white bed sheet and making a hole for her head. Next, you can create a belt out of ribbon to go around her waist. This will keep the sheet closed. A nice color of ribbon to use is gold. This has now created a robe. Next, you are going to concentrate on making wings. The best way to make wings is to take cardboard and cut it out into wing shapes. You can have your child either color the cardboard or paint the cardboard gold. When the wings are dry you are going to attach them to the robe. This can be done by making small holes in the shoulder of the robe. You will also make small holes in the wings. Take a piece of ribbon and run it through the robe and the wings and they will stay connected. You can use gold ribbon so that it blends in. The last part of the angel costume that you are going to make is a halo. This can be done by using Christmas garland. You should choose gold. If you want you can add some stars here and there on her costume to add some effects.
Another homemade Halloween costume that you can make for your little girl is a sunflower. She can be a sunflower. This is very easy to do. You will want her to wear a brown outfit. Next, take some cardboard or poster board and draw out large sunflower leaves. Paint or color them yellow. Cut them out and glue them to a headband. Place this on your daughter's head. Next you will want to take some lipstick that is in the brown family. Put a little bit onto her nose and maybe a few spots on her cheeks. Take some more poster board and draw some large leaves and a stem. Color or paint them green. Next, you will attach them to different parts of her clothing. If you are worried about using staples or pins, you can purchase Velcro. There is Velcro available with adhesive on both sides, that way you do not have to sew it on her clothing.
Next you can make a Halloween costume for your little monster. A fun costume to make is to make him into a Joker. I am talking about the Joker in a card deck. The way to do this is to take a Joker from a card deck and use it to draw a picture of one onto poster board. Your child can help you to color or paint the picture. You will need two drawings; one for the front and one for the back. When you are finished coloring or painting the poster board you are going to cut out a strip of poster board about 3 inches wide and 4 inches long. You will make two of these. Next, you are going to attach these to the top of the Joker cards. Place them at opposite ends. These are going to be placed on top of your sons shoulders. This will also create a hole for his head to go into. It will also give support to the cards. You can now paint your son's face as you deemed fit to match the cards. What a cute little Joker you have.
Another Halloween costume that you can create for your son is that of a scarecrow. Take an old pair of jeans and put a few flannel patches on them. You can roll up his pant legs a little bit to add to the effect. Have him wear a flannel shirt as well. Find an old straw hat and put a few patches on it as well. Next, get some straw from a craft store and glue some under the hat. Finally, put a little bit of lip stick on his nose and maybe a few smudges of mascara on his face and you have yourself a cute scarecrow.
These ideas are a lot of fun and very inexpensive. You should have tons of fun with your little trick or treaters. I know that you are going to make wonderful memories together as well. When your kids are grown they will still talk about all of the fun that you had making these homemade Halloween costumes.
