Homemade Holiday Gift Ideas for Your Child's Teacher

V. L. Hamlin
Tis the season to be jolly and giving! Your child's teacher is no exception and cannot be forgotten! The problem is, you barely know her outside of the education level. Your child is being absolutely no help, with the exception of suggesting candy and other sweets as her gift!

What are you going to do? What can you possibly give her that is inexpensive, impersonal and she will actually like?

Make her a gift! Handmade gifts are always a special treat! Everyone enjoys receiving a gift that so much time and effort went into and your child's teacher will be no different! Below you will find several home made gift ideas that he/she will just adore!

Pencil Holder filled with pens and pencils.

Stop by your local dollar store and pick up a few packages of pens and a pencil holder (the stand up kind, they are usually square). Then wrap the pencil holder with pretty paper and fill will the pens and pencils!

Photo Album

Pick up a standard 4 x 6 photo album and place inside a picture of your child. If you have a class portrait, a copy of that would be great as well! Have your child add a little note to the teacher telling her how much he/she enjoys the class.

Mini ABC Scrapbook

Make a small scrapbook, about 4" x 4" and decorate it with alphabet stickers and school style embellishments, then add a picture of your child and the class photo as well!

Notepads

Make your own notepads or pick up some pre made blank notepads from the dollar store and stamp them using rubber stamps. Pick a school themed stamp or if you can stamp his/her name across the top or the bottom of each sheet.

Post It Notes

Make your own post it notes or pick up some pre made blank post it notes from the dollar store and follow the directions for decorating the notepads above.

A Letter

Have your child write a personalized letter to the teacher, thanking him/her for all of the wonderful things he/she has learned and how grateful he/she is to be in the class.

Classroom Items

A lot of schools have cut teacher's budgets down to almost nothing, forcing them to purchase things for their classrooms out of pocket. Help him/her out by giving needed classroom items. Make up a basket full of crayons, markers, safety scissors, construction paper, pencils and glue. This will help immensely and they will just love it!

Gift Basket

A Gift Basket filled with prepackaged snacks is sure to be appreciated!

Overall, the idea to remember is don't waste your money on something useless. Give the teacher something he/she will need, whether it be for themselves or the classroom they will definitely appreciate the thought!
