Homemade Holiday Gifts: Personalized Pottery to Kitchen Decor

Have you been looking for the perfect holiday gift, only to be let down time after time? I know I have. I have ideas of what to look for, but sometimes the stores don't carry exactly what I want. How about making your gifts this year? That's right: Sit down and make your gifts. With the time, thought and personalization tht is going into the gift, your recipient will truly appreciate your homemade gift. Read on to find out how to make some homemade gifts that can't be duplicated!

Are you looking for a very special gift to give to your grown up child? If you still have your child's baby clothes, drag them out. More than likely, the clothing that your adult child wore as a baby will not get worn again. Turn the special clothing into a great gift by making a quilt. Cut the clothing into squares of varying sizes. Sew them together along the sides. Stitch the fabric squares to a quilt backing.

Wreaths are popular homemade gifts for the holiday season. Most people like to display a holiday wreath on their doors, windows or walls during this time of year. Purchase a pre-made wreath from your local craft store and gather the necessary materials to decorate it with. Consider using holiday ribbon, flowers, berries, small gifts, ornaments or other holiday items that you can find in the craft store. Using a hot glue gun, attach the pieces onto the wreath. Every year that the wreath is hung in their home, your gift recipient will remember the nice gift that was made for them.

For a special grandparent that has everything, consider making them a personalized pottery gift. Gather the entire family to make the gift extra special! You might choose to make a gift for Grandma from all of her grandchildren. Visit a pottery studio and choose a platter, flower vase or other item of your liking. Have all of the participants paint the piece or put everyone's hand print onto the piece of pottery. Don't forget to write everyone's name on the pottery and the year it was created. The studio will "fire" the piece of pottery for you.

Give the cook in your life something very special that they can use in the kitchen. Personalize an apron for them by applying a fabric picture to the apron. Paint the palm of your children's hands and place them on the apron for handprints. You could write a simple message on the apron, such as, "Hands down the best chef in town".

Whether you give a handmade pottery piece, jewelry item, clothing item or decoration, everyone loves homemade gifts that are created from the heart. Spend some times during this holiday season to get to know what those around you really could use!
