As everyone knows, if you own jewelry then you're going to have to get it cleaned at some point. Having your jewelry cleaned can be costly, however if your pieces are irreplaceable high valued estate pieces you might want to make the investment of having a professional clean your pieces. However for most of us, cleaning our own jewelry has become a person task in which we put off until the last minute, but eventually get around to doing it.

Cleaning your own jewelry pieces doesn't have to be difficult. In fact it's rather easy to clean your own jewelry. You could purchase expensive jewelry cleaners, that have unnecessary abrasive ingredients, of you could save money, and make your own. Making your own jewelry cleaner has plenty of benefits. First you save time, and gas because you can usually find the ingredients at home. Second, you know what is being put on your jewelry, so there isn't a risk of you having a chemical reaction, or worse your jewelry being damaged.

STERLING SILVER & GOLD

Cheap toothpaste is a great way to clean sterling silver and gold. The best toothpaste to use is one that consist of a white paste. You can use gel toothpaste, however it isn't as effective in cleaning silver, and gold as the paste is. To clean your jewelry use a small pea size amount of toothpaste on an old toothbrush, and gently scrub your piece. Once you feel your jewelry piece is clean, use a old washcloth to polish the tooth paste off. You can run your jewelry under cold water to help remove any unwanted paste.

For stubborn tarnished jewelry piece you can mixed baking soda, and water together in order to form a paste. Using an old toothbrush gently scrub your piece of tarnished jewelry until the tarnish as been removed. Finally rinse your piece in cold water to remove unwanted paste, and the polish with a soft cloth.

AMBER

Cleaning Amber is easy to do, but you should be careful. To clean Amber use a mild soap to make soapy warm water. Next wet and ring out a clean rag, and wipe your Amber down. If it important to dry your Amber at once, because water will cause your Amber to look cloudy. You can use sweet almond oil on a clean dry cloth to polish your Amber.

PEARLS

The best way to clean pearls is to add one table of denture cleaner to a cup of water, and soak the pearls overnight. Follow the directions on the denture tablets as if you was cleaning dentures. This is the easiest, and most effective way to clean real pearls. Watch out for fake pearls. Soaking fake peals can cause the paint on the to chip away. To clean fake pearls use a damp soapy cloth, to gently remove dirt, and stains. After pearls are cleaned, rise them in cool water, and pat dry with clean towel.

As you can see cleaning your jewelry doesn't need to be difficult. These are just a few easy solutions to help save you money, during this economic crisis. You can also get the children or grandchildren involved, which allows for bonding time as well. No one said cleaning your jewelry had to be chore, you can make it fun with very little effort.
