Even the store bought generic soap is getting expensive to buy. Now you can save money and make your own soap, plus custom the scent you want. And save tons of money. This recipe makes almost 2 gallons of soap.

Homemade laundry soap recipe

1/3 bar of Fels Naptha bar soap or Zota soap, grated
1/2 cup Arm & Hammer washing soda
1/2 cup Oxi clean ( I buy the generic Brand at walmart)
1/2 cup Borax powder
2 cups lavender buds (optional)
4 oz Fragrance oil( Optional)

5 gallon bucket

Place grated soap in a pan and add 6 cups of water . cook over med heat until soap is melted, add the soda, oxi clean and borax. Mix till dissolved completely. Remove from heat and add 4 cups of HOT water. mix well, then pour into your 5 gallon bucket. Add 1 gallon of warm water and 7 cups warm water and mix well. You can add your lavender buds now or fragrance oil if you want to scent your soap. Cover and let stand 24 hours to cure. This will be a thick gel type laundry soap and you add 1/2 cup to each wash load. This will work on any type washer.
