Winter weather really can dry out the skin and leave it feeling so scaly red and itchy. When this occurs it is time to make and use a homemade moisturizing avocado body scrub that contains potent nutrients in it to help nourishing the skin back to health. The scrub is very easy to make and takes no time at all.
The natural nourishing ingredients needed to make a homemade moisturizing avocado body scrub are an avocado, ½ cup of olive oil, ¼ cup of aloe juice, 2 cups of cane sugar and 10 drops of your favorite essential oil. I personally like to use lavender essential oil in my scrub because it is calming to the body, mind and spirit. Now you should be able to find these ingredients easily in a whole food store, grocery store, herbal shop or pharmaceutical store.
Now for materials you will need a puree machine or a smoothie machine, a medium sized plastic container, a spoon and a spatula. If you don't have these items in your kitchen they can be found at dollar stores, department stores, kitchen shops and the grocery store.
The first thing you need to do before making the avocado body scrub is carefully slice the avocado in half with a knife on a cutting board. Now when you cut the avocado there will be a pit in the middle so be careful and cut around it. Once you have the avocado sliced open it is time to scoop the pit out of the avocado with a spoon. Next, take a spoon and scoop out the fleshy green part of the avocado from the skin and place it into the puree or smoothie machine. Then add in the olive oil, aloe juice and essential oils and puree the ingredients together until you get a smooth green thick liquid. After, pour the liquid into the container and add in the sugar. Next, all you need to do is combined the sugar and avocado puree mixture together until you get a thick green gritty moisturizing avocado body scrub. Next, place the lid on the container and place the scrub into the refrigerator until you are ready to use it. The body scrub will stay good for up to 24 hours in the refrigerator, but after the 24 hours the scrub will start turning brown due to oxidations.
Now when you are ready to use the homemade moisturizing avocado body scrub simply take it into the bathroom with you and step into the shower and get your skin warm and wet with water. Next, take a handful of the body scrub and massage and rub it gently in circular motions all over the body from head to toe. You can even use this scrub on the face as a gentle facial exfoliating cleanser is you wish. When you are using the scrub you will notice it is gritty and thick, yet slightly oily and nourishing to the skin. Then, once you feel your skin has been well exfoliated with the scrub you can rinse off with warm water and pat the skin dry. After, your skin will feel very soft and smooth, but I recommend adding a body cream to the skin to help keep it soft and protected from the cold winter air.
To help keep skin soft and glowing naturally you can use this scrub up to three times per week. However, I wouldn't recommend you use this homemade moisturizing avocado body scrub if you are allergic to any of the ingredients in it. I wish you all the very best with exfoliating and nourishing you winter skin naturally so it can be soft and beautiful.
