This wood branch necklace is an awesome and easy Mother's Day gift that is homemade and perfect for crafters of all ages. You can also use this homemade wood branch necklace and sell it on your online craft store or at Etsy.

To Make a Handmade Mother's Day Necklace from Wood Branches You Will Need:

Wood Branch

Eye Hook

Chain

Wood Burning Tool

Stain

Paint Brush

Pencil

To get started you will need a wood branch from a tree that is about 1 inch in diameter. You can use any size you wish, but this is perfect for a wood necklace pendant.

Take your saw and cut off slices of the branch that ar about ΒΌ inch thick. You will need a nice sharp and thin saw for this. It is a lot easier if you can rent a saw if you do not own one.

Tip: Check with a local wood worker to see what they would charge to cut some of these if you plan on making a ton of necklaces from these wood craft ideas.

Now, take your wood burning tool and use it to burn an damage on one side of the slice of wood. I like to use a retro bird, letters, or any other fun image on the wood that you would like to wear around your neck.

Once the design is etches into the wood craft you want to seal the wood. I like to use a nice dark wood was for this. You can seal the wood and age it at the same time this way.

Now, on the top you want to pre drill a small hole in the side. Use this to screw your eye hooks into. Predrilling is best so that you do not split your wood when screwing the hook into place. Wood in thin slices will tend to split pretty easy.

Another idea it to drill a tiny hole through the top of the pendant from the front to the back. You can attach a simple necklace ring here and squeeze it into place.

Which ever method you choose you are now ready to add the chain to the finished piece. A fun look is using the type of necklace that is beaded like a dog tag. Be sure what ever you use to make sure it coordinates with the ring you used or the eye hook color!

Leather strips are also a nice touch to give a rustic look to the easy wood necklace craft as well. These are perfect for selling online at your craft store or locally to fairs.

Nice. I might just do this for my mother. It seems easy enough.
