Mother's Day is set aside to celebrate the most important woman in your life, your mother. Finding the perfect gift for mom takes some thought. The older you get the more thought you seem to need to make a decision. There are some things that you can make to give mom on her special day.

Hand Prints

A classic gift that still makes mom smile. Kids are only little for so long. Mom will enjoy looking at those handprints a few years from now and remembering when you were little. The handprints can be on construction paper or poster board and done with finger paints or made in clay. You can even do them like fingerprints so that mom can remember the days that you covered her walls with them.

Scrapbooks and Decorative Photo Albums

You can make mom a home made photo album or even a scrapbook for Mother's Day. These can be themed to cover nearly any event that you can think of. Everything from past Mother's Days, mom's birthday, family vacations or anything else that you think might make mom happy. If you're not an only child you can make it a project with your siblings. Each one of you can do a scrapbook of the moment's that you remember best with mom. With the decorative photo albums you can each decorate a page it to show how the pictures make you feel.

A collage of past photos can be used to decorate the covers of either one. The books can even be customized with indexes to make finding specific pictures easier.

Jewelry

While buying mom some jewelry might not be in the budget you may be able to make jewelry for her. A necklace, bracelet, or pair of earrings can be made easily with an inexpensive kit from the craft store. A string some beads, charms, etc and you have jewelry that you can personalize for mom. You can find letter blocks to put a short message on the jewelry in between the charms on it. If you're rather crafty you can make a matching set for mom.

Jewelry Box

While you may not be able to build mom a jewelry box for Mother's Day with a little help you can customize one for her. A clear container from the Sporting Goods section of the store or from the craft store can be decorated. A little paint, some stickers and a message to mom will let her think of you every time she puts on her jewelry.

There are all kinds of homemade gifts that you can give mom for Mother's Day. It just depends on what mom likes. You have to remember that the thought you put into the gift is the most important part.
