Homemade Mother's Day Presents to Make

Marie M. Daniels
With a little guidance, some materials and your own creativity you can make your own gifts for Mother's Day. If you are looking for homemade Mother's Day gifts that don't suck there are a few ideas listed below. Homemade Mother's Day gifts don't have to look homemade and they don't have to suck either. If you are looking for the perfect mother's day gift you can make it with your own two hands.

Handmade recipe cards or cookbooks:
Isn't it about time that you handed down your famous recipes or at least your favorite ones? You know the recipes that when you make the dish and take it to a potluck or party everyone wants to know how you made that. Handmade recipe cards can simply be made on 3 by 5 inch note card paper. Copy 10-15 of your best recipes and tie them up with a ribbon. To make the homemade cookbooks you will need more recipes for your cookbook, you can ask family and friend. You can write them out by hand but the cookbook would look neater if done on a computer. You can even add clip art or maybe a photo to the pages for a special touch.

Personalized stationary:
You can make personalized stationary for a homemade Mother's Day gift that doesn't suck. If you can write neatly or in calligraphy you can personalize a notebook by yourself. If you need help you can make the stationary on the computer and just use a nice looking font like Edwardian Script. You could make it a trio of envelopes, stationary and cards all personalized.

Photo gifts with scrapbooking:
If you like photography and scrapbooking you can use your talents to make a beautiful photo album for your mom on Mothers day. Even if you are not talented in those areas you can still put together a great looking photo book with personal comments or captions that she will cherish.

Jewelry:
Just stop by the craft section and you can find a plethora of beads to make bracelets or necklaces as a mother's day gift. It can be as simple as stringing beads for a bracelet or you can get more advanced with your homemade jewelry for a Mother's Day present. A one of a kind piece of jewelry is definitely a homemade Mother's Day gift that doesn't suck.

Make shopping totes:
Handmade shopping totes are an eco friendly homemade gift that doesn't suck. If you have a mother or mother-in-law who could use some help going green why not sew them up a fabric tote. Who couldn't use another bag to carry things around? If you know that your gift recipient has a laptop you could sew them a stylish laptop bag instead of a tote.

Other handmade gifts that you can make for mothers day include: food or candy in fancy tins, Gifts in jars, and an apron for mom. If you make a recipe that your mother just loves you can fix that for her and serve in a nice tin canister. Recipe gifts in jars are easy to make if you are short on time. You can make hot chocolate, soups, cookies and many other items in the gifts in jars category. If you can sew then you can use the free apron patterns at the link below to make a mother's day apron for your mom.

all of these are great!I would absolutely love and cherish the photo/scrapbook the most, although anything handmade is cherished forever, all you have to do is look in my storage room, and that's quite obvious...lol I take it a step too far I guess, lol I have saved everthing they ever made for me;)
