Penny Harmon
Heartburn is a condition that effects millions of people every day. If you find that over-the-counter medications are simply not working, or you simply feel uncomfortable taking the medication, you will find the following homemade recipes for heartburn will help to make you more comfortable and relieve the symptoms of acid reflux and heartburn.

Baking Soda
Ingredients: ½ teaspoon of baking soda
4 ounces of water (half a glass)
Mix the ½ teaspoon baking soda in lukewarm water and drink. Do not use this, however, if you are nauseated, bloated, or have symptoms of overeating. You will always want to double check the label on the baking soda, as well, to make certain it can be used as an antacid as some types may not be. As baking soda is also very high in salt, do not use this product for heartburn relief if you are on a low-salt diet.

Apple Cider Vinegar Mix
Ingredients: 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
1 tablespoon honey
1 cup of lukewarm water
Mix all three ingredients together and drink when you first feel the heartburn coming on.

Cooked Apples
Ingredients: 3 or 4 sweet apples
¼ cup of water
Peel and slice the apples and put in pan with ¼ cup of water. Simmer on the stove for approximately 3 hours, stirring occasionally. They are ready when the apples become a thick, brown mixture and are sweet to taste. Place these in a dish in the refrigerator and take a teaspoon whenever you feel heartburn coming on.

Ginger Tea
Ingredients: 1 ½ teaspoons of ginger root
8 ounces of water
Mix the ginger root in the water in a pan on the stove and simmer for 10 minutes. Drink when you begin to experience the symptoms of heartburn.

Potato Juice
Ingredients: 1 raw medium sized potato
8 ounces of water
Wash potato well, but do not peel. Place potato in blender or juicer and blend until a liquid consistency. Mix with water and drink when you feel the any sign of heartburn.

The wonderful thing about the above recipes is they are all natural. There are no other additives in them, and they are items that you normally keep in your kitchen at all times. Just like millions of people, I have heartburn on a regular basis and find all of these homemade recipes for heartburn do the trick. While you may not enjoy the taste of the potato juice or baking soda, you will find they are an effective treatment in reducing the burning sensation in your esophagus within moments.
