Homemade Remedies for Calming an Upset Stomach: Ginger Tea and a Warm Compress
My Grandmother was as Smart as a Research Doctor from the Mayo Clinic
My grandmother was as smart as a research doctor from the Mayo Clinic if you ask me. The reason why is this. She knew remedies that research doctors from the Mayo Clinic have given the o.k. on. I read on the site http://www.mayoclinic.com/ that herbal teas are the recommended remedies for many of the things that bother you. One of those things was an upset stomach. It said that drinking Ginger teas are very good for your upset stomach. I sat laughing as I realized that I knew that without having to go to medical school. I learned it growing on on the farm with my grandmother during a summer visit. It works too. The Ginger herbs create a reaction to the acid in the stomach. It makes the acid dissolve.
To make this tea it is best if you use real Ginger. The tea bags are alright but real steeped Ginger works best. Take some boiling water and pour it over a flour cloth with Ginger shavings in it. The colored liquid that comes through is the Ginger tea. Drink that until the discomfort subsides.
Another recommendation that they made was for hot compresses on the belly. Grandma strikes again I guess. She recommended that one as well. I realized that it used to be that modern medicine didn't recognize herbal remedies. I guess now those homemade remedies for calming an upset stomach that Grandma recommended are legit. The warm compresses on the belly seem to calm the muscles. The muscles react to the warmth of the compress which then makes the stomach relax more. It sounded logical to me back in the day. I know it was really helpful after getting sick to my stomach after eating too much junk on the Forth of July. I suppose it is now official. I can picture my grandmother winking at me from wherever we go after we die.
There you go. Two homemade remedies for calming an upset stomach that will help most situation that involve calming the stomach. The first helps with a sour or acid stomach. The second one helps with the pain of the stomach after being sick in the restroom. Those two got me through childhood. Try them yourself and see what they do for your family.
