Acne is an age-old problem that has affected most all of us at one time or another. Acne is basically a skin condition that's caused by a clogging of the pores and hair follicles. The clogged areas then become infected. The infection results in raised, red bumps. These bumps, which are called "Pimples" or "Zits", can appear singly, or in multiple groups on the skin. The worst thing you can do is to squeeze or pop acne bumps because this can lead to a more serious infection. This action can also lead to scarring of the skin tissue. Instead, try these homemade remedies to cure Acne.
1. Comedone Extractor
If you have a large blackhead that's bothering you, you can safely remove it by using a Comedone Extractor. The extractor is a metal device that has a round end. This device is available at your local drugstore. Be sure to read and follow the instructions that come with it in order to achieve the best results.
2. Calamine Lotion
Another homemade remedy to cure Acne is to use Calamine Lotion on the affected areas. The chief ingredient in this soothing liquid is zinc oxide. Zinc oxide is a natural antiseptic that helps the skin to heal.
Wash the affected areas first. Then, liberally apply Calamine Lotion to the Acne. Allow it to dry before you put on clothing.
Note: Since Calamine Lotion dries to a milky white film, you may only want to apply it to your face before bedtime.
3. Table Salt
Since Acne is caused by clogged pores and hair follicles, washing your face three times a day can help clear the blocked passages naturally. Many soaps can leave a residue on your skin which can make the Acne worse. So, instead of using soap, gently wash your face with table salt. The grains of salt will act like a facial scrub. Plus, the salt will help reduce the inflammation.
To use table salt, wash the areas that are affected with Acne first. Then, sprinkle a teaspoon of salt in the palm of one hand. Add a bit of warm water and rub the moistened mixture over the Acne. Let it set for a minute, then rinse your skin clean, and pat dry.
4. Pure Lemon Juice
Removing excess dirt and oil from your skin is the name of the game when it comes to curing Acne. The citric acid in pure lemon juice, when used an an astringent, will safely remove this dirt and oil. It will also kill the bacteria that causes pimples to become infected.
To use pure lemon juice as a homemade remedy to cure Acne, the best time to use it is before bedtime. First wash the affected area well, and pat dry. Then, cut a lemon in half. Rub each half of the lemon over the affected areas. Squeeze as you rub to release more of the juice. Allow the juice to dry. Then, when you arise, wash the lemon juice off with warm water and pat your skin dry.
5. Tea Tree Oil
Applying Tea Tree Oil, which is available at your local healthfood store, is another remedy to cure Acne. Tea Tree Oil is a natural antiseptic that will kill the bacteria on your skin.
To use Tea Tree Oil, wash the affected areas of the skin first. Then, apply the oil to the Acne.
