Homemade Remedies to Stop Underarm Perspiration Odors
Store-Bought Deodorants and Anti-Perspirants Don't Always Work!
You're not suffering alone. Underarm odor is a problem that many people face. Perspiration is the result of a normal bodily function. It happens when our bodies get overheated. We sweat in order to cool our bodies down to its regular temperature. Perspiration can also happen when we get nervous and upset.
Perspiration and its odors are more noticeable under our arms. That's because the moisture is trapped, and it can't evaporate as readily as on other areas of our bodies. The moisture of the Perspiration, along with the warmth of your underarms, causes bacteria to form. The bacteria is what causes underarm odors.
There are a number of homemade remedies to stop underarm perspiration odors. Let's take a look at some that can help solve your problem:
1. Bathing and Personal Hygiene
Of course, you should bathe or shower at least once a day. But to stop a problem with underarm perspiration odors, you should bathe or shower twice a day. If you haven't got the time to climb in the tub or shower that often, then at least wash your underarms. Use an antibacterial soap that will kill the bacteria under your arms. Rinse with clean water, then dry your underarms thoroughly with a soft towel- never just allow your underarms to "air dry". Finally, reapply a homemade product that will stop underarm perspiration odors.
Baby wipes or moist towelettes can also be used to wash your underarms when you're away from home. Just be sure you use anti-bacterial products that will kill the odor-causing bacteria.
2. Wear Breathable Clothing
Clothing that's made of natural fibers like cotton and silk allows air to circulate through it. When we wear cotton or silk clothing, perspiration can evaporate more easily. On the other hand, man-made materials such as rayon, nylon, and polyester actually trap perspiration, especially in our underarm areas. The result is underarm perspiration odors.
If you suffer from a problem with underarm perspiration odors, you should never wear the same article of clothing twice without laundering it first.
3. Rubbing Alcohol As An Anti-Perspirant
Rubbing alcohol is an effective way to stop underarm perspiration odors. When it's applied to the skin, rubbing alcohol actually closes the pores in the skin.
One of the best homemade remedies to stop underarm perspiration odors is to dab rubbing alcohol on both your underarms. You may not like the smell, but once you
allow the alcohol to evaporate, the smell will disappear.
Don't use rubbing alcohol on your underarms right after shaving. Or, if you have a rash or an open sore. Because, the alcohol will burn like fire!
4. Drink Plenty of Water
You might think that drinking water will only increase your problem with underarm perspiration odors. More water equal more perspiration. On the contrary, keeping your body properly hydrated will help flush the wastes out of your body. Therefore, you'll have less toxins in your perspiration. Less toxins equal less bacteria which means less odor.
How much is enough water? Take the test: if your urine is clear and odorless throughout the day, then you're drinking enough water. Otherwise, you need to increase your water intake.
5. Baking Soda To the Rescue
Using baking soda is another one of the effective homemade remedies to stop underarm perspiration odors. Instead of using store-bought deodorant or anti-perspirant, use a duster to apply baking soda to your clean, dry underarms. Baking soda will help keep your underarms dry by absorbing perspiration. Plus, it will help eliminate odors.
6. Try A Crystal Rock To Eliminate Underarm Odors
A crystal rock that's made of mineral salt is another one of the effective homemade remedies to stop underarm perspiration odors. It works by reducing the amount of perspiration under your arms.
Crystal rocks can be found at a drugstore or at a health food store. Follow the instructions included with the rock in order to achieve the best results.
