To Make This Shabby Chic Photo Mother's Day Card You Will Need:
1 Photo
Glossy Photo Paper
Printer
Water Color Photo Pens
Picture Corners
Card Stock Card and Envelope
To get started you want to take a photo of the kids, some flowers that Mom love, or any image you think will look great on the front of a Mother's Day Card. Try to choose an image that has one to two flowers, one to two people, or a single item in the image.
Set your camera to the sepia or black an white setting. Of course you can alter this later with your camera programs in your computer, but this save s a step later.
Now, insert your glossy or high gloss photo paper into the printer. Print you image in black an white or sepia tone on the front of the paper.
Let this sit and dry for 24 hours. You want the photo image on the homemade shabby chic Mother's Day card to dry for 24 hours because sometimes the ink jet ink in your printer takes a while to cure and dry completely.
Meanwhile, check out your local craft store or art store. You want to check out the marker section or photography section. You will find markers, pencils, and ink in bottles that is made specifically to color on photo paper - high gloss photo paper or matte. These add sheer or translucent colors onto white areas on the card.
Now, take a look at your photo. Choose an main item in the picture to highlight. Fun items can be some retro shoes; a funky piece of clothing, or even a shabby chic hat one of the family members is wearing.
Add one layer of color and let this dry.
Cut out the photo with pinking sheers. Use a pre made card stock card and some paper picture corners to adhere this to the front of the e card.
If you use picture corners when making this homemade shabby chic mother's day card, then Mom can easily remove the photo and frame it if she likes your handy work!
Tip: This does work well with matte paper as well, but has a much more professional look if you use a high glossy or glossy photo paper to make the Hand made Mother's Day Card.
