Hair removal can be expenses, smelly and painful. Removing hair from the body can even be time consuming. However, I recently made my own sugar wax and loved the way it worked for removing hair gently with minimum pain and the fresh lemony scent it had. In addition, I did not have to worry about harmful chemicals being put on my skin to help remove the hair.
The natural ingredients I needed to make the homemade sugar wax were 1 cup each of honey, lemon juice and white sugar. All ingredients most of you should have in your kitchen cabinets. I know I sure did. If not, you can affordable get these ingredients from your local grocery store. If you do not have white sugar on hand, you may use brown sugar instead, but I find white sugar works the best when making this homemade sugar wax.
The easiest way to make the homemade sugar wax is by placing all the ingredients into a microwavable bowl and combining them together until you get a smooth golden yellow color mixture. Next, you place the mixture into the microwave for one minutes, or until the mixture begins bubbling and foaming. Once the mixture begins to bubble and foam, you want to immediately remove the mixture from the microwave and give it another good stir until the foam and bubbles are gone. After, allow the mixture to cool on the countertop for about 15 minutes. Once the 15 minutes is up the mixture should be thick like warm sugar wax and ready to use.
Now to use the homemade sugar wax all you do is take a large popsicle stick or plastic butter knife, dip it into the sugar wax, and apply a thin layer of it to the area you are waxing in the direction the hair is growing. Next, take a piece of cotton fabric and cover the waxed area and rub the fabric into the area well so the wax is sticking to the cotton and the hairs are sticking to the wax. Now pull the cotton strip up in the opposite direction the hair is growing. You should be able to look at the cotton strip and see the hair has been completely removed. You may repeat these steps until all the hair you want remove has been.
However, it is important for you to allow the hair you are removing to be at least ¼ to ¾ inch long before waxing, which can take anywhere from one week to two depending on how fast your hair grows. Trying to wax with stubby hair just does not work well. You end up with a mess and that' it. You may also wax once a month to help keep hair from growing back thicker. Some of you may find twice a month helps keep your skin smooth and hair free. You may also use this sugar wax on the face, bikini area and underarms. I do hope those of you who try my homemade sugar wax like the way it works naturally to remove hair.
