Homemade Syrup

Carrie Hetu
2 cups sugar

1 cup water

2 T. molasses

2 T. butter

1 tsp. extract flavor of choice such as vanilla, maple syrup flavor, almond

Place sugar, water, molasses and butter in a sauce pan and bring to a boil. Boil rapidly stirring constantly for about 2 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in extract flavor. Serve hot over pancakes or French toast, although will be thin. It tends to thicken as it cools.

Alternative would be to leave out the molasses and add a cup of fresh berries of choice such as blackberries, blueberries or strawberries.
