Homemade Teen Halloween Costumes for 2009 that Are Easy and Cheap to Make

Adam Hefner
Every year teens and parent's flee to the stores to find the latest in Halloween costumes to parade around in on a fun filled night. But what if you want to make your own costumes to your on personal preference? Here are some ideas that teenagers can use to make there costumes.

1.Static Cling - Take a shirt and pants and fasten a few pairs of socks and other small clothing over them with pins or glue (don't use glue if you want to wear the items again!). Wear the outfit with your hair all messed up. Use gel or hairspray in your hair to get some pieces to stick straight up.

2.Athlete - Wear your uniform from your sports team and carry the appropriate ball with you. (ex. Football player - wear uniform, helmet, and carry a football). You can be a soccer player, football player, baseball player, etc.

3.Tourist- Wear a Hawaiian shirt and khaki shorts. Put on a straw hat and camera around your neck. The bigger the camera, the better (it doesn't have to work). Put sun block on your nose. For an added effect, use some pinkish red makup to look sunburned on your face. Wear sandals or flip flops. Don't forget some sun glasses. Pretend to take pictures of the sites.

4.Scarecrow - Put on a long sleeved button up shirt and jeans. Stuff straw in the clothing at the wrists and ankles so that it is exposed. Also do this at in the spaces between the buttons of the shirt. Put on hat (any hat will do, but a straw hat is best) and have place some straw around it. If you are sensitive to the straw, wear a thin layer of clothing underneath as well as socks and place the straw between the two layers. Decorate your face with some makeup (ex. Red nose, freckles). You can also put a fake crow on your shoulder. (If you don't have one, print one out, glue it to cardboard, and cut it out). Any type of shoes will do.

5.Mummy - Get some rolls of cheap toilet paper. Plain white looks best. Put a shirt and pants on and have someone wrap the toilet paper all around you making sure your arms and legs move and that you can see and breathe. If you put it too tight, you won't be able to move around. Don't be too neat with the paper. Break some off and continue wrapping so there are pieces hanging loose. Caution - go to the bathroom before you get wrapped up!
