Peanut Butter Fudge in Heart Shaped Cookie Cutters

The best Valentine's Day candy is made with love by you. Skip all those fancy boxes full of expensive chocolates, and make your own homemade Valentine's Day candy. A really easy and inexpensive idea is to use your favorite homemade fudge recipe for your Valentine's Day candy. Instead of pouring the homemade fudge into a pan, pour it into greased heart shaped cookie cutters. It is so easy to make your own homemade Valentine's Day candy. Just set the heart shaped cookie cutters on a cookie sheet lined with wax paper. Make the homemade fudge and pour it into each heart shaped cookie cutter. Fill it right up to the top. If you want to, you can decorate your homemade fudge with colorful sprinkles or heart shaped candies. Be sure to decorate your homemade fudge before it sets. You can refrigerate the homemade Valentine's Day candy, or just let it set on the counter until completely cool and set. When the homemade fudge is set, gently lift each heart shaped cookie cutter off the wax paper. Wrap each one in pink or red plastic wrap.

The following is a favorite peanut butter fudge recipe that is very easy to make as your homemade Valentine's Day candy. You can use any homemade fudge recipe, or even a recipe for marshmallow treats. If you use marshmallow treats as your homemade Valentine's Day candy, just follow the recipe as directed then press the mixture into the greased heart shaped cookie cutters.

Peanut Butter Fudge

2 cups granulated sugar

2/3 cup milk

1 cup marshmallow creme

1 cup creamy peanut butter

2 teaspoons vanilla

Mix the sugar and the milk together in a two quart saucepan. Stir well until the sugar is dissolved. Cook to soft-ball stage, 235 degrees Fahrenheit. (If you do not have a candy thermometer, you can use the cold water method. To test the homemade fudge, you will need a small bowl with cold water in it. Drop a spoonful of the mixture into the cold water. Use your finger to push the candy into a ball. If it forms a soft ball that holds it's shape in the water, it has reached the soft ball stage.) Remove from heat. Stir in fluff, peanut butter, and vanilla. Pour into greased heart shaped cookie cutters. Cool completely. Gently lift each one off the wax paper, and wrap in colorful plastic wrap.
