Heart Cards
Find a pink or red piece of construction paper or card stock. Draw a simple large heart on the paper and cut it out with pinking shears. Find a Valentine's Day quote, joke or poem for kids and write it on the card. Attach a piece of two of your child's favorite candy with tape.
Another idea for a kids' Valentine's Day card is a heart butterfly. Get a piece of your child's favorite candy. The candy should be long, slender and wrapped in paper, foil or plastic. Cut out two medium sized red or pink hearts from construction paper or card stock. To make the butterfly's wings, attach the paper hearts to the back of the piece of candy with tape. Then cut a chenille stem in half and twist the ends of each piece. Attach the untwisted part of the chenille stem halves to the underside of the candy with tape. If you like, you can add cut paper decorations to the butterfly's heart wings with craft glue.
Cupid's Arrow
Cut out a medium sized heart from construction paper. Then get a long drinking straw. Attach some craft feathers to the end of the straw. Cut four slits in the Valentine's Day card to create two small paper bands. Insert the straw through the slit in the heart card. Write a greeting such as "Happy Valentine's Day" on the front of the card. Use aluminum foil and hot glue to attach a chocolate kiss to the end of the straw to create a cupid's arrow. Don't allow children to handle to hot glue; complete this step yourself.
Chocolate Card
Buy your recipient's favorite chocolate bar. Get some red or pink construction paper or Valentine's Day gift wrapping paper. Wrap the chocolate bar in the decorative paper and close the wrapping with tape. Cut a heart out of construction paper or card stock. Make sure that the heart is the right size to fit on the chocolate bar. Write a Valentine's Day message on the heart and adhere it to the wrapped chocolate bar with double-sided tape.
Rose Card
Get 15 sheets of red, pink or white tissue paper. If necessary, cut the tissue paper into 5 to 6 inch squares. Stack 15 same colored tissue paper, then accordion fold the paper. Take a green chenille stem and wrap it around the center of the accordion folds. Cut the ends of the folded paper to round them. Unfold the paper to create the rose petals. Tie the chenille stem with a red or pink ribbon. Attach the paper rose to the front of a folded piece of card stock.
