A boil is a hard, tender inflammation of the skin or the underlying areola tissue that forms around hair follicles. It is often very painful and deep red in color. The cause is bacterial infection and diseased condition of the blood resulting from ingestion of indigestible food and anxiety. The boil, if not subdued, ends in the death of the areola tissue which escapes from the swelling in the form of a slough or core, with pus.

The swelling is conical in shape, and if left to itself bursts at its summit, discharges the pus and subsides. If boils appear frequently, this might be an indication of the debility of the immune system. Boils commonly come up on sites like the face, neck, armpits, and groin.

Boils that appear on your face can look ugly and be very embarrassing. Even if it is anywhere else on your body, it can cause a great deal of discomfort and hamper your day-to-day activities. So you might want to get rid of a boil as fast as possible. Several good medicines are available in the homeopathic mode of treatment that effectively cure boils.

Belladonna: this is the first remedy that is to be used when a boil appears and look red and give pain. The dose is thrice a day for three days.

Hepar sulphur: this remedy is useful in the beginning of suppuration when the pus is developing. The use of this remedy will hasten the suppuration when three doses are taken in a single day.

Silicea terra: when the boil does not heal even after suppuration is complete, administration of this remedy three times a day for three days proves to be beneficial.

Aconitum napellus: this remedy is indicated in cases of very red boils characterized by hot, shining skin with a burning sensation and accompanying fever.

Arnica Montana 200: this remedy proves to be of use in the event of small boils scattered all over the body in copious numbers, especially in the summer.

Mercurius solubilis 200: is the medicine of choice when the boil is persistent, huge, and open and is filled with pus. This remedy absorbs the pus when given in a dose of once every third day in the morning, the course lasting for a total of three days.

Calendula: is the remedy in the form of an ointment for topical application on boils and infected sores. a tincture or a compress can also be used. Oral intake helps in overcoming infection.

Echinacea angustifolia: is the remedy that helps a person suffering from recurring boils. People for whom this remedy is suitable are characterized by feeling unhealthy, sluggish, achy, and have sensation of lowered body temperature..

A combination of remedies is often employed to effect rapid and efficient cure.

12 globules or one drop of Arnica tincture is to be poured into a glass of water and given to the sufferer in teaspoonful amounts once in every six hours. The boil is to be washed in the same solution. If t the end of the day, i.e. 24 hours, the inflammation does not decline then it is advisable to switch to the administration of Belladona three times a day for 24 hours again. In case even this remedy fails to be effective, Mercurius viv. is to be given with it in an alternate manner, along with a poultice of bread and milk or linseed meal on the boil.

If the boil causes a throbbing pain and build-up of pus occurs, Hepar sulph. is to be taken in the night as well as in the morning, along with Belladona at every four hours interval, until the boil breaks open.
