The arum triphyllum is also known as the wild turnip, wake robin, Jack-in-the-Pulpit, Devil's ear, dragon root, memory root Arisamae triphyllum, Indian turnip and Pepper turnip. There are over 20 species of Arum in the Araceae family.

Description: The Arum has bright red or orange berries that form in a cluster. The spathe varies in colors from yellow, purple, brown and white. While some species carry a flower scent, others do not. The leaves are arrowhead shaped.

Medicinal Uses: Arum Triphyllum is used to treat croup, stomatis, whooping -cough, chronic laryngitis, bronchitis, asthma, and chest pains. It is used an as expectorant and diaphoretic.

Poison Factors: High toxicity rate. If taken internally the Arum triplyllum can cause severe gastro-enteritis.

Chemical Components: Arum triphyllum is composed of albumen, gum sugar, starch, extractive, salts of calcium and potassium and lignin.

Important Information: Arum triphyllum is considered to have a high level of toxicity. The antidote to Arum triphyllum is butter-milk. Arum tripyllum in its fresh state can cause burning to the mouth and throat as it is a irritant to mucous membranes. The root is the only part of the plant used; it should not be fully dried, but should also not be a fresh root. The dosage should be no more than 10 grains three times a day, prepared by a licensed herbalist, company or medical care provider.

Interactions: Antidote is butter-milk. Arum can cause internal bleeding and swollen tongue if it's not taken exactly as ordered.
