Homes in Buffalo New York

Regina Sass
Buffalo is the second largest city in New York State, second only to New York City. It is the home of the State University of Buffalo, a highly acclaimed University for its engineering program among others. Buffalo is in the far western part of New York State, on the shores of Lake Erie and not far from Niagra Falls. The architecture in Buffalo New York is mostly in the art deco style with a pleasant mix of more modern styles. As for the homes, there is a mix of styles ranging from the attached town homes of the city center to the stately Victorian , pre Victorian and post Victorian colonial homes more in the outer neighborhoods. There are no really large plots of land compared to what can be found in the surrounding towns and villages, but it is in the city and that is to be expected. This is not to say that the lots are small, by city standards they are larger than the average in other cities. As for condo and co op homes you have a choice of older pre war buildings and new ultra modern town house style. And each one of the single family homes is unique. Victorian homes were built to be different one from the other, the idea was for each of them to be a bit different than its neighbor and that sure is the case in Buffalo. For this reason, it is important for you to see as many homes in your price range as possible. Do no assume that once you have seen one, you have seen them all. The one you pass up may just be the one that is destined to be your new home.
