This annual event is a great resource for home educators and for those considering options other than public school. The two day conference and curriculum fair has speakers and workshops that cover a multitude of vital home school issues such as The Biology of Learning and Behavior, How to Begin Home Educating, Homeschooling through High School and many others. Speaking at this year's conference is Dr. Brian and Betsy Ray of the National Home Education Research Institute.
Whether it is the NCHEA or other convention or conference aimed at home educators you should seize the opportunity to attend for many reasons.
Networking with other homeschoolers can prove to be invaluable. Meeting other home educators with similar mindsets can be validating and affirming. Likewise, fellowshipping with people who also hold home education as a top priority yet go about it differently can be refreshing. Forging new friendships can revitalize you and breathe some fresh air into your home schooling day. Learning from each other's mistakes as well as gaining another persons perspective on subject matter, textbooks and teaching styles can help boost up an uninspired home schooling parent. Conferences also have curriculum booths set up which enables you to really get a feel for the material before you purchase it for your children and compare it to other curricula available. Being able to actually have the books and materials in hand can give you an immediate feel for their quality, readability and user friendliness. Other parents picking up additional materials at the booths are often happy to give you their opinion of the materials they have used. Curriculum bought at conferences often is discounted and additionally saves you shipping costs.
The NCHEA website (www.nchea.org) offers online registration for the conference and curriculum fair as well as a downloadable PDF brochure. Walk in registration is also acceptable. Conference cost is $44.00 for NCHEA members and $70.00 for non-members. As a side note, the annual membership to join the NCHEA is only $24.00, which is a savings of two dollars and offers additional discounts at other events and a discounted membership to the Home School Legal Defense Association (www.hslda.org).
The NCHEA conference and curriculum fair will be held in Lincoln, Nebraska March 27th and 28th 8:45am to 4:30 pm in the Indian Hills Community Church located at 1000 South 84th Street.

This would be extrememly helpful for homeschoolers. Great resource here.
Quite a few homeschoolers use Singapore Math, it is well recognized.
Maybe I can go there and sell Singapore Maths textbooks and assessment books. Good way to make a lot of money.
