Book-It is a program hosted by Pizza Hut to encourage children to read. Teachers set a goal for their students with either a set number of books to read per month or a set amount of time to read per month. For example, as my daughter's teacher I can set her goal at reading 15 books for the month. I could also set her reading goal as reading 10 hours per month which is what I might estimate it will take her to read those 15 books. This figure is based on the grade your child is in and you have all the freedom to change the goal if need be.
Book-It is for students in Kindergarten to sixth grade. They do have another program for Preschoolers called Book-It Beginners if you'd like to check it out.
When your child reaches their goal for the month you issue them a free personal pan pizza coupon redeemable at any Pizza Hut. The program begins October 1st and runs through the end of March. You can sign up at any time, even before October 1st. I received my kit for this year today, September 3rd. I have been using this program successfully for 3 years.
