Homosexual Churches Not God Ordained

Tony Daniels
For about the last thirty years homosexuality has permeated many areas of American life. In politics, entertainment and even religion, homosexuals have gained influence.

Up until the mid to late 1970's the stigma attached to being homosexual was so great that most practicing the lifestyle kept it secret. Not even family or friends were allowed to know that they were living outside of acceptable societal standards.

The sexual revolution of the late 1960's along with the feminist movement of the same period helped to give license to the homosexual community to be more open about the lifestyle that they were living.

In the ensuing years homosexual churches began to pop up all over the country. This movement was fueled by the continued stigmatization of homosexuality in mainstream churches that were not as flexible as society concerning their acceptance of the lifestyle of the homosexual.

Homosexuals in the church echoed the same sentiment of homosexuals outside of the church which was that, they were born homosexual and in the case of Christianity, they should be accepted because God accepted them as they were.

And to go a step further they added that God made them like they were. But is that true?

Let's take a look.

The Lifestyle and Reproduction

When God created mankind, as all Christians believe, the Bible says that when he created them he gave them a command, his first command, "to be fruitful and multiply."

The first and most important direction that mankind had was to reproduce himself. At the time there were only two people in the entire earth, so it was paramount that they obeyed this command and populated the earth.

In essence God told them to have sex, have a lot of it and fill up the planet with people.

Living the homosexual lifestyle puts a person in direct contradiction with the original and still continued command of God. Living exclusively within the homosexual relationship, it is impossible to perform the act of reproduction. The only way that reproduction can be achieved within a homosexual relationship is to go outside of the relationship.

If homosexuality was truly an alternate or substitutable lifestyle, there would be no need to go outside of the relationship to reproduce. This is even more prominent in regard to Christianity.

Obeying the commands of God is the premise of the Christian faith. Living as a homosexual takes an individual directly away from being able to obey the command of God concerning populating the earth.

God's Church and His Acceptance

In Matthew 16:18 Jesus said "upon this rock I build my church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it."

In this passage Christ was speaking in response to the answer that Peter gave him in reference to who he (Jesus) was. He was saying that upon the fact that he was the son of God and the chosen savior for the world was the foundation on which he was building his church.

The church of Jesus Christ was built on the precepts of following God's commands and obeying his word which at that time was the Old Testament.

In the Old Testament in the book of Leviticus God spoke his command concerning homosexuality. Though many have tried to contend that what is said in Leviticus is no longer valid in the New Testament, very simply, that is not true and we will see that in a minute.

In Leviticus 18:22 it says "thou shall not lie with mankind as with womankind, it is abomination." Webster's Dictionary defines abomination as "disgusting, vile or detestable."

In this scripture God made it very clear how he felt about homosexuality. Has he changed his mind?

In order for homosexual churches to declare that God accepts them as they would need proof. There is no proof in the word of God. As a matter of fact there is proof to the contrary.

In Hebrews 13:8 it says "Jesus Christ the same yesterday and today and forever." And God is just the same. The way he felt about homosexuality in the Old Testament is the same way he feels about homosexuality in the New Testament.

He has not changed his mind, we have.

The only thing that changed with God is how he chose to deal with sin. In the New Testament mercy was added to the judgment of sin. In other words the punishment was not to be as severe as it was before.

We see this in practice in John 8:2 -11, when he dealt with the adulterous woman. After all the people who accused her were gone Jesus said for her to "go and sin no more."

Notice in this scripture Jesus did not deny that she had sinned but in dealing with her sin he exercised mercy but warned her to change the way she was living. In the Old Testament she and the one she committed adultery with would have been stoned to death.

The New Testament message is mercy when dealing with sin, not acceptance of it.

God has not changed the way he feels about homosexuality. In the Old Testament it was sin punishable by death. In the New Testament it is still sin but forgiven with the promise to repent or turn away from it.

We should not twist the meaning of acceptance. To accept someone is not saying that their condition is accepted forever, it is saying that their condition is accepted at the time that they come. God will accept a person in their present state but on the condition that they will change to fit in with his word.

If a person comes to you dirty and hungry, you will accept them as they are because they cannot do anything about their condition at the time that they come to you but after they have been with you a while you will expect them to clean themselves up.

You will expect them to change.

God is no different. He will accept us in the condition in which we come to him. He has to. If we were able to cleanse ourselves we would not need to come to him. The condition we come to him in is sin. He accepts us, cleanses us with his son's blood (forgiveness) and writes our name in his book of life but also with renewing of our mind (Romans 12:1-2) he expects to see a change in our behavior.

Homosexuality is sin to God. It always has been and always will be. Homosexual churches are not sanctioned by God nor will they ever be. God has not changed his mind about sin and he never will. It is unacceptable to him and will always be.

If any and all behavior was acceptable to God, Satan would still be in heaven. Rebellion against God's rule put Satan out of heaven and rebellion against God's word now will keep us out of heaven.

For if we sin willfully after that we

have received the knowledge of the

truth, there remains no more sacrifice

for sins

Nicely said Steve Cowen. There's nothing wrong with homosexuals, only the people who fear them for selfish, and stupid reasons. Wake up! It's not the dark ages anymore, so get out of that mindset!

If the only reason we exist is to procreate, then by all means let's do away with all people who are infertile, for whatever reason! Old folks, injured folks, diseased folks, all need to be terminated!
Lord you and your kind are a bothersome lot...
