The Honda Rebel is an excellent "cruiser" type motorcycle for anyone ranging from an absolute beginner to a commuter. The motorcycle has a 250cc engine that has plenty of power to take you down the highway at cruising speeds but not too much to throw a new rider around. The Rebel is very nimble and light to manuver with a low seat hight that makes it perfect for beginners to get both feet firmly on the ground. Most motorcycle training programs use this motorcycle for this very reason!
Being so light and with a 250cc engine, the Honda Rebel gets outstanding fuel economy which makes it perfect for commuting on. I currently use this motorcycle to drive to work and back almost everday. This is a 110 mile round trip commute! Averaging gas mileage for this motorcycle is 66-80mpg. I average right about 75mpg cruising at 60-65mph. You just cant beat that. With this gas mileage you get a range of almost 170 miles begore needing to refule. You sure do not have to give up fun for fuel economy.
Being a cruiser style motorcycle, the rider is sitting more upright instead of hunched forward like a sport bike. This will be much easier on a beginner or commuters. Since the Rebel is a small motorcycle, some may feel cramped on it if you are over 6 feet tall. I feel just fine and comfortable on it for my hour drive to and from work and i am 5'11 and 200 pounds. And i know of much larger people that ride Rebels and they LOVE them! So sit on one yourself and decide.
Cost is another great selling point of this motorcycle. Retail is $3,199 brand new. That is a great price for what you are getting. These motorcycles hold their value extremely well. If you ever want to move up to a larger bike you can sell your Rebel for much of what you bought it for.
Reliability is something this motorcyle was founded on. Being around since the 1980's this Honda is the definition of reliable. Honda got this one right with the bullet proof engine design, chasis and all around design. Thats why it has hardly changed since 1985!
Fun, reliable, cheap, and extremely fuel efficient? You have yourself a winner right here with the Honda Rebel.
