Honey - All I Want for Christmas

Janet Trieschman
Talking with a friend/mom we were discussing Christmas presents we would love to get without being asked about and those that would be terrible surprise presents. We thought it would be fun to make a list so our husbands could turn to it any time they wanted an idea of things we would be touched by and love to receive. So here is my list:

Things not to surprise me with - ever.

1. A car - don't think about spending that kind of money without talking about it together. I would not be surprised but rather in shock and possible cardiac arrest.

2. Diamonds - I know there are diamond girls out there; I am not one of them. You can add pearls and jewelry to the list. Something small and not so expensive; yes, but not any expensive jewelry. I just don't wear it.

3. A party - I don't like surprise parties. I think I got this from my mom. My sister and neighbor decided to throw my mom a surprise birthday party one year and my sister got greeted by being hit by a box of cookies. I am not sure I would react the same way but I know I wouldn't like it.

Things I would love to get (and most of them would cost you nothing!)

1. A free day - A free day at home without the kids. Plan on taking them away for the day and leaving me at home alone. Do something fun with them so they have a great day too.

2. Breakfast in bed. Anytime, any day actually any meal made for me that I didn't have to think about would be great. (It doesn't have to be in bed, just cook.)

3. A coupon book full of tickets I could use to cash in when I need help, something done around the house or a massage.

4. Create something special with the kids. It could be a card or some artwork or food, but something you spent time doing together especially for me.

5. Clean the house, a part of the house a room. I don't care. Clean something that I don't have to clean up would be great!

6. Let me sleep in. Don't wake me. Take care of the kids, take them somewhere and let me sleep the day away; or at least a few hours.

7. Hire a babysitter and take me out - surprise me. It could be dinner, or a movie or shopping. Just spend some time alone together would be great anytime of the year.

Super job. At first, I thought you just wanted honey for Christmas :) I had to laugh at your description about what you'd do if you got a new car. I'd feel the same way. My car is paid for and I don't want another one - or car payments - or even the expense of a brand new or used car. Mine suits me just fine.
